We are now seeking an exceptional public health leader to join us as an Assistant Director/Consultant in Public Health, working at the heart of this ambition.
This is a senior leadership position within Bolton Council, forming part of the Wider Leadership Team and reporting directly to the Director of Public Health (DPH). The postholder will have significant strategic responsibility for shaping and improving population health outcomes and reducing health inequalities across Bolton.
As a Chief Officer, you will provide authoritative public health leadership across the Council, Boltons health and care system, Greater Manchester partners, the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector, and wider agencies.

Main duties of the job
Leading healthcare public health work area, including public health advice into the development of Boltons neighbourhood models and the implementation of GMs Live Well Programme.
Strategic leadership of health intelligence, including the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) and Boltons Research and Intelligence Network (BRAIN).
Providing public health leadership to support the Health and Wellbeing Board, working closely with the DPH.Supporting health protection arrangements, including incident and outbreak response.
Championing Boltons Prevention Framework and coproduction approach across the system.
Influencing and advising senior leaders and elected members with confidence, political awareness, and sound professional judgement.
Participating as an active member of the Councils Wider Leadership Team.
Supervising specialty registrars in public health on placement within the team.
Contributing to health protection system resilience and participation in the Councils strategic oncall rota for civil contingencies.
Professional requirements
Applicants must be included on the GMC, GDC, or UKPHR Public Health Specialist Register or, if on a UK training scheme, within six months of CCT at the point of application, in line with the Faculty of Public Health consultant appointment requirements.
