About this role

Job Role We’re hiring a Support Worker (Peripatetic) to join the CFO Evolution programme on a long term Fixed Term Contract until the end of 2028 . In this role, you will carry out effective assessments, deliver tailored interventions, and build strong relationships with stakeholders within custodial settings. Your primary focus will be to support participants in identifying and addressing their individual needs, with the aim of reducing their risk of reoffending. You’ll manage a caseload and provide coordinated oversight of risk, with a strong emphasis on safeguarding. This includes promptly reporting any changes in individual risk to the Probation Service and adhering to established policies, procedures, and systems to ensure effective risk management. From initial engagement and assessment, you will offer motivational support and guidance throughout participants’ sentences. You’ll deliver both one-to-one and group interventions to help individuals overcome barriers to reintegration. A key part of the role involves preparing participants for release, ensuring a smooth and well-supported transition back into the community. The role will require you to work closely with peer mentors and volunteers to support caseload management and connect participants with vital services such as housing, substance misuse support, and physical and mental healthcare. Due to the peripatetic nature of this role, regular travel across the designated cluster is required for caseload management, service delivery, and attending internal and external meetings. Monday to Friday 8.30 am to 5.00pm Closing date : 21 October 2026 Key Responsibilities Manage a caseload of participants across both custody and community settings. Deliver one-to-one and group interventions, providing motivational support and guidance to encourage engagement and positive outcomes. Complete pre-release and Through the Gate support, including assessments, action plans, progress reviews and release preparation. Build positive relationships that help participants overcome barriers and reduce their risk of reoffending.Maintain accurate, timely and high-quality records to meet contractual, operational and compliance requirements. Safeguard adults and children by identifying, managing and reporting risks in line with organisational and Probation Service procedures. Support participants to access services such as housing, mental health support, substance misuse services and healthcare.Work collaboratively with peer mentors, volunteers, prison staff and external partners to deliver coordinated support. Meet individual performance targets while contributing to wider team objectives and service outcomes. Travel across the allocated prison cluster to deliver services, manage caseloads and attend internal and external meetings. Adhere to the company’s policies and procedures always, including safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion, quality, health and safety and IT. To undertake any other duties, as required, appropriate to the post. Skills and Experience Resilience and focus in fast-paced, constantly evolving environments. Team-oriented approach, contributing to shared goals, supporting colleagues, and leveraging team strengths. High levels of initiative and self-motivation. Sound judgement and decision making skills, with the ability to make clear, accurate, and defensible choices. Analytical thinking, including the ability to research, interpret, and draw insights from data.
