Job summary
Patient administration underpins the patient journey and supports clinical teams in deliveringhigh quality patient care and can make a real difference to the patient experience. Effectiveand efficient patient administration supports management through ensuring a high standard ofdata quality and by making the best use of capacity and resources. The Medical Secretary isthe hub of effective patient administration in the Business Unit.
Main duties of the job
The Medical Secretarial team;? Ensures a comprehensive secretarial and administrative service is provided to themedical staff, clinical nurse specialists, their supporting teams and clinical business unitstaff as necessary.? Provides cover for colleagues in their absence to maintain service levels.? Notifies the Specialty Co-ordinator of any booking rule changes so that clinics andtheatres are updated.? Co-ordinates the elective access process with the Elective Access Clerk and ensuresthat all available capacity is used.? Highlights current & future capacity problems (e.g. when referrals rise or case mixchanges) to managers & clinicians.? Works with the Specialty Co-ordinators regularly to ensure the whole of the patientpathway runs smoothly with minimal delays ensuring the Trust achieves locally andnationally agreed standards.? Actively manages patient waiting lists and ensures patient pathways are updated tominimise validation backlogs and data quality issues.? Regularly validates to ensure data quality.? Takes and writes up minutes of meetings including Clinical Governance, departmentalmeetings as required

This will not constitute a formal merger of the two organisations, but will bring the Trusts together under a single Board and Executive Leadership Team, with the goal of improving the care that is provided to patients both in the community and in hospitals across Lincolnshire. Both Trusts will retain their separate statutory names and legal obligations.
The Group will be known as Lincolnshire Community and Hospitals NHS Group (LCHG).

Qualifications Essential
Typing and/or Word/Text processing Skills GCSE English Grade C or equivalent Text Word processing & Audio skills to RSA II or equivalent

4 GCSE C or equivalent Business Admin NVQ II or equivalent
Previous Experience Essential
Previous experience in office environment Some knowledge of medical terminology

Experience in Respiratory Health Care NHS experience in Gastroenterology and/or Hepatology health care service
