Job description: Business Analyst – Enterprise & Mainframe Systems Thoriva · Remote · Full-Time Thoriva, an Infinite Company, is seeking an experienced Business Analyst to serve as a key liaison between business stakeholders, clients, and a team of senior mainframe developers supporting mission-critical systems. This role requires a strong understanding of legacy mainframe environments combined with experience in modern, distributed systems, and the ability to operate within federal government programs and compliance frameworks. The ideal candidate is client-facing, highly organized, technically fluent, and capable of translating complex business requirements into clear, actionable functional and technical documentation for development teams across a variety of technologies. JOB SUMMARY As a Business Analyst, you will be the primary business and client interface supporting enterprise application teams. You will gather, document, and translate complex requirements for mainframe and modern-platform developers, driving clarity, alignment, and deliver quality across the full SDLC. Key Responsibilities
• Act as the primary business and client interface supporting enterprise mainframe and distributed application teams.
• Gather, analyze, and document business requirements, user stories, and functional specifications.
• Translate business needs into clear, detailed requirements consumable by mainframe and modern-platform developers.
• Support development teams working on COBOL and mainframe applications including batch and online systems.
• Partner with architects and developers to ensure requirements align with technical constraints and system capabilities.
• Support initiatives involving integration between legacy mainframe systems and modern applications.
• Facilitate requirements workshops, stakeholder interviews, and client review sessions.
• Manage and trace requirements through the full SDLC.
• Support testing efforts including functional testing, system integration testing, and UAT.
• Assist with production support analysis, defect triage, and root-cause identification.
• Ensure adherence to federal government processes, documentation standards, and compliance requirements.
• Collaborate with globally distributed teams and stakeholders across multiple time zones.
• Maintain clear documentation and communication across business, technical, and client teams
Required Qualifications
• 8+ years of experience as a Business Analyst supporting enterprise systems.
• Proven experience working closely with application development teams.
• Strong understanding of mainframe-based systems (COBOL environments and batch/online processing concepts).
• Experience supporting or integrating with modern systems (web applications, APIs, and distributed platforms).
• Demonstrated experience working with external clients in a professional services or consulting environment.
• Experience supporting U.S. federal government programs or highly regulated environments.
• Strong requirements elicitation and documentation skills, including business requirements, functional specifications, user stories, and process flows.
• Experience supporting Agile and/or Waterfall delivery methodologies.
• Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in parallel.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in federal services or government consulting.
• Experience working with globally distributed development teams.
