Job description: Lead Architect / Cloudera Hadoop Administrator Thoriva · Remote · Full-Time Thoriva, an Infinite Company, is seeking a highly experienced Lead Architect / Cloudera Hadoop Administrator to provide technical leadership, architecture strategy, administration, modernization, and operational ownership of the FIDS data platform. This individual will serve as the primary technical authority for Hadoop and Cloudera technologies, enabling large-scale data integration, analytics, reporting, regulatory support, operational processing, and client-facing information services supporting millions of student loan borrowers. FIDS is a mission-critical platform within the Fiserv Education ecosystem and supports data-intensive workloads across servicing, audit, reconciliation, compliance, federal reporting, and business intelligence functions The ideal candidate will combine enterprise architecture expertise, distributed data platform engineering, operational excellence, security leadership, and modernization vision to ensure the platform remains scalable, secure, resilient, and aligned with future business needs. JOB SUMMARY As Lead Architect / Cloudera Hadoop Administrator, you will set the technical direction for our Cloudera platform. You will work with team members and clients to ensure a reliable, scalable data analytics platform supports multiple client. Key Responsibilities Platform Architecture & Strategy

• Define and maintain the long-term architecture roadmap for the Hadoop and analytics ecosystem.

• Lead platform modernization initiatives including cloud readiness, automation, data governance, and advanced analytics capabilities.

• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend platform improvements.

• Develop architecture standards, design patterns, and technical governance processes.

• Partner with application development, infrastructure, data engineering, security, and business stakeholders to deliver strategic solutions.

Cloudera & Hadoop Administration

• Administer and support enterprise Cloudera Data Platform (CDP) environments.

• Manage HDFS, Hive, Impala, Spark, YARN, Oozie, Kafka, Ranger, Atlas, ZooKeeper, and related components.

• Perform platform upgrades, patching, capacity planning, cluster expansion, and lifecycle management.

• Maintain platform availability, performance, reliability, and security.

• Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex production incidents and performance challenges.

Data Engineering & Analytics Enablement

• Support large-scale ingestion, transformation, and reporting workloads.

• Optimize data processing pipelines and query performance.

• Enable business intelligence, audit, reconciliation, and regulatory reporting capabilities.

• Collaborate with reporting and analytics teams to improve accessibility and performance of enterprise data assets.

Security, Compliance & Governance

• Implement and maintain secure access controls using enterprise RBAC standards.

• Ensure compliance with corporate security requirements, FISMA, FedRAMP, and regulatory controls where applicable.

• Lead data governance initiatives including lineage, metadata management, retention, and data quality oversight.

• Support audit requests and compliance reviews.

Operations & Reliability

• Establish monitoring, alerting, capacity forecasting, and operational dashboards.

• Develop and maintain operational runbooks and disaster recovery procedures.

• Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement activities.

• Drive automation initiatives that improve platform reliability and operational efficiency.

Leadership

• Serve as technical mentor and subject matter expert for Hadoop, Cloudera, and enterprise data platforms.

• Lead architecture reviews and provide guidance to development and data engineering teams.

• Influence technology decisions across the Fiserv Education portfolio.

• Work closely with business and technology leaders to align platform investments with strategic objectives.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.

• 10+ years of enterprise IT experience.

• 7+ years of Hadoop ecosystem experience.

• 5+ years administering Cloudera-based environments.

• Strong expertise with:

• Cloudera Manager

• Hadoop (HDFS, YARN)

• Hive

• Spark

• Impala

• Kafka

• Ranger

• Atlas

• Linux administration

• Knox

• Experience with enterprise security and identity management.

• Strong SQL and data modeling skills.

• Experience supporting large-scale analytical and operational data environments.

• Demonstrated experience leading architecture and modernization initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting federal, financial services, or highly regulated environments.

• Experience with:

• AWS and cloud-based data platforms

• Data lake and lakehouse architectures

• Informatica, ETL, or CDC technologies

• Business Objects or enterprise reporting platforms

• Python, Java, or Scala

• Data governance tooling

• AI/ML and advanced analytics platforms

• Cloudera, AWS, or enterprise architecture certifications.
