Accountant Candidate Profile
• Develop and implement financial strategies, annual budgets, and forecast models to support the health care facility's growth, expansion, and profitability.
• Oversee the preparation of monthly/annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with Sri Lanka Accounting Standards (LKAS/SLFRS/IFRS).
• Monitor and optimize revenue generation, patient billing processes, third-party insurance reimbursement, and collections to maximize cash flow.
• Analyze operating costs (clinical and non-clinical) and implement cost-saving measures without compromising the quality of patient care.
• Manage working capital, cash flow, bank relationships, and investment strategies.
• Ensure full compliance with Inland Revenue Department regulations, tax liabilities, and statutory requirements in Sri Lanka.
• Lead and mentor the finance team (Accounting, Accounts Payable/Receivable) to ensure high performance and continuous improvement.
• Liaise with external auditors, bank representatives, regulators, consultants and health care professionals.
• Collaborate with clinical department heads (nursing, labs, pharmacy) to manage budgets and improve efficiency.
Job Responsibilities
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• Full/Part qualification in CA Sri Lanka, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of working experience in finance and audit functions, with prior experience of at least 3 years in the healthcare sector.
• Deep knowledge of IFRS/SLFRS, strong proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle), and advanced Excel skills.
• Understanding of hospital operations, healthcare billing, and local healthcare regulations in Sri Lanka.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Excellent leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills.
• Exceptional communication skills, able to present to the Board and interact with all levels of staff including external health care professionals.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
