Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for a part-time (22.5 hours per week) Dietitian to join our committed and enthusiastic team to be a Specialist Dietitian to support nutrition support and home enteral feeding.
This Post predominantly delivers a home enteral feeding (HEF) service to patients primarily living in their own homes in Sunderland and will provide a dietetic service to the intermediate and rehabilitation care unit. The Postholder may be required to cover HEF caseload within South Tyneside in times of staffing pressures.
The Postholder will work in collaboration with a variety of professionals including Home Enteral Company Nurses, other specialist nurses, community staff and other dietetic colleagues within Trust and regionally. Previous experience of home enteral feeding is desirable.
Our Dietetic Department of more than 55 staff is managed as one team but is structured into smaller teams led by Senior Specialist Dietitians. We are actively involved in the training of Trainee Dietitians and offer A, B and C placements.
You must therefore possess a Degree in Nutrition & Dietetics and registration with the HCPC.

Main duties of the job
This role sits within the Dietetic care homes and community team.
There will be opportunities in the field of research as we look to adopt and support the AHP regional strategy. You will be supported to undertake any applicable leadership courses.
The Department is friendly and supportive and encourage CPD, including regular clinical supervision and evidence-based practice groups as well as good post-graduate education and training opportunities.
The Trust has one on-site gym plus a Training and Education Centre.

Qualifications Essential
BSc Dietetics or PG Diploma in Dietetics. HCPC Registration. Evidence of CPD. Knowledge of audit and application to clinical practice. Demonstrated knowledge of enteral feeding practice.
Desirable
Evidence of Masters level study, e.g. PENG Clinical Update Course. Specialist group member, e.g. PENG / BAPEN member. BDA validated Clinical Educators training. Supplementary prescribing qualification.
Personal Qualities Essential
Ability to manage a busy and varied workload. Good time-management. Flexible. Ability to work well with others. Ability to use own initiative appropriately.
Experience Essential
Experience of calculating nutritional requirements for enteral regimens. Experience of multidisciplinary working.
