About this role

Job summary

We have co-produced a bereavement pathway that follows families throughout the bereavement pathway whilst also supporting staff to give personalised and holistic bereavement care

Main duties of the job

The role of the band 6 Bereavement Midwife is to provide continuity of care to women and their families who experience pregnancy loss through to a subsequent pregnancy. They will be an advocate for women and their families in accordance with the philosophy and standards of care within the area, ensuring that Trust values and beliefs are upheld.

The Bereavement midwife has a fundamental role in the delivery of high standards of bereavement and midwifery care, ensuring an environment that is conducive to wellbeing.

Qualifications & Training Essential

Registered Midwife Qualified Mentor Sign off mentor Evidence of continuing professional development

Clinical Skills & Experience Essential

Experienced band 6 midwife Evidence of multidisciplinary/multi agency working

Desirable

Bereavement care experience Knowledge of perinatal mortality review, CDOP and MBBRACE. Attendance at specialist bereavement care study days. Knowledge of National bereavement care standards Knowledge of National bereavement care standards

Governance Essential

Treats colleagues with dignity and respect. Exemplary personal standards of conduct and behaviour. Capacity to work with in a multidisciplinary team - Able to work flexibly Record keeping and documentation Capacity to work with in a multidisciplinary team - Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to make calm rational decisions in the face of adversity

Experience of using MBRRACE and DATIX reporting systems
