Job summary
This post is to enable us to deliver a sustainable and high quality service, support the growing needs of faster diagnosis standards and improve turnaround times, while delivering comprehensive diagnostic general radiology services to East Kent. The post will be flexible to some degree based on workload and activity across the departments. The post-holder is expected to support the training of our Radiology Residents and to respond to changes in demand of both inpatient and outpatient work.
The successful applicants should have completed training in diagnostic radiology, be on the GMC Specialty registrar, or be within 6 months of their CCT.
We will provide the essential resources to support you in your duties, including administrative support. We will work together to produce a mutually agreeable job plan and review it after three months, and then annually.
Main duties of the job
This is a 1.0 WTE consultant post. The post will have components of general radiology, including plain film reporting, CT, Ultrasound and MRI. Each department undertakes a range of interventional image-guided procedures including non-vascular interventions including CT and US guided biopsies, PEG insertion and drainages of abscesses.
The successful candidate will have a good knowledge of General Radiological imaging and be expected to contribute to the daily general work including general oncology and acute cross-sectional studies. An experience in major trauma reporting is desirable. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the on-call rota, currently on a 1:16 basis. We have two Radiologists covering the on-call for the 3 main sites up to 8pm on weekdays, and 8am to 8pm on weekends and Bank Holidays. The on-call is performed on-site.
In addition, it is hoped that the successful candidate will be able to offer sub-specialist experience and support department multi-disciplinary team activity.
The successful candidate will be expected to make a strong contribution to teaching and training within our department.
