We Are Looking For:

A qualified Band 5 Podiatrist wanting to develop strong skills and progress to a Band 6 Podiatrist / Band 6 depending on clinical experience with a passion for community-based care. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to lead and motivate others, while remaining open to learning and growth. A team player who's excited to innovate, embrace new ideas, and help shape our evolving services. A commitment to inclusive and person-centred care, ensuring every patient feels seen, heard, and supported.

Main duties of the job

As a Development Podiatrist, you will provide high-quality assessment, diagnosis, treatment and ongoing management for patients with a range of lower-limb and foot health needs, supporting them to maintain mobility and independence.

You will work collaboratively with Podiatrists and other health and care professionals to deliver safe, coordinated and person-centred care, seeking guidance from Band 6 and Specialist Podiatrists where appropriate.

This is a structured development opportunity. You will undertake clinical rotations and receive regular supervision and mentoring to develop your clinical knowledge, confidence and decision-making skills.

Working with your manager, you will identify your learning needs and work towards the agreed competencies required to progress to Band 6 level.

You will:

Deliver safe, evidence-based podiatry care to a diverse patient population. Develop your assessment, clinical reasoning and caseload management skills. Work collaboratively across community and multidisciplinary services. Participate in clinical rotations to broaden your experience. Engage in supervision, mentoring and continuous professional development. Build the knowledge, skills and competencies required to progress from Band 5 to Band 6.

Education/Qualification Essential

BSc Degree In Podiatric Medicine or Diploma (if qualified prior 1991) Registration with the Health Professions Council Certificate in local anaesthesia

Desirable

POM certificate

Experience Essential

Experience of multidisciplinary and interagency working Experience of working with a wide range of patient and disease / pathology types including the at-risk and high-risk foot

Desirable

Experience of clinical supervision / mentoring Experience of service development

Skills and Knowledge Essential

Knowledge of recent developments in the profession Knowledge of podiatric theory and practice Knowledge of SOCAP code of conduct Awareness of Equal Opportunities - theory and practice Understanding of Clinical Governance -theory Up-to-date knowledge of clinical issues and treatment development

Ability to evaluate and analyse patients concerns and needs and propose effective solutions Ability to undertake intricate work in using sensitive diagnostic tools and a range of surgical instruments. e.g. in the management and debridement of poor tissue viability wounds and nail surgery Organisational and planning skills to manage your own work time. Experience of delivering health education

IT Skills including use of Internet, e-mail, Word Processing Hold a full, valid, UK driving licence and have access to a car to use for business purposes (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010)
