Job summary
Are you an organised, compassionate, and detail-oriented individual looking to support a dynamic clinical team? We are seeking a Medical Secretary to join our Integrated Medicine Team, providing essential administrative support to ensure the smooth running of patient care services.
This post is a fixed term/secondment for 12 months to meet the needs of the service. If you are interested in applying for the secondment position, you must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying for this post.
Main duties of the job
The principle accountabilities of this post are:
Plan own day to day tasks and duties
Undertake routine typing and audio typing of clinical correspondence
Prioritise results, organise clinical activity and patient admissions
Liaise with patients, GP's and other Health Boards/Trusts to arrange ongoing treatment and care.
This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. Whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn't 'fluency', just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means being able to use Welsh in routine workplace situations, such as greeting customers, answering calls, responding to routine enquiries, providing information, arranging appointments and taking messages. Qualifications/Knowledge Essential
RSA/OCR Level III or equivalent level of knowledge, skills and experience Good standard of education Comprehensive knowledge of medical/surgical terminology
Desirable
ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence) or similar qualification Knowledge of University Health Board procedures Medical Secretary qualification e.g. AMSPAR
Experience Essential
Previous experience in a secretarial role Experience of working in a busy environment Ability to prioritise and manage own workload Knowledge of the Welsh PAS (Myrddin) system
