The post holder will be expected to contribute to the strategic development of the Neuroradiology Service.
They will be recognised as an expert in their field holding additional specialist knowledge and experience
When the Pain Clinic was relocated to St George's, it was accompanied by an experienced nurse and subsequently integrated within the Neuroradiology service. Over time, several nurses have supported the delivery of Pain Clinic services; however, one member of staff sadly passed away, and the remaining nurses have since retired.
The departmental workload has continued to grow significantly. The introduction and expansion of the thrombectomy service have further increased operational pressures, resulting in a substantial rise in clinical demand across Neuroradiology.
In view of the sustained service growth, increasing complexity of caseloads, and the need to maintain high-quality patient care, it is both timely and necessary to reinstate this post. Re-establishing this post will support safe service delivery, enhance workflow efficiency, and ensure the department is adequately resourced to meet current and future clinical requirements.
Main duties of the job
1 To support the Sister in developing the department
1 Demonstrate specialist advanced clinical skills in all aspects of Neuroradiology nursing
1 Provide clinical support and advice to Nursing and Medical Staff
To lead the nursing agenda locally in line with the divisional/trust strategy, .
Monitor and develop the nursing schedule particularly in respect to skill mix to provide safe effective staffing levels 1.1 In conjunction with the multidisciplinary team, ensure that nursing care is provided to meet complex needs.
1.1 Ensuring that there are systems in place to store, check and administer drugs in accordance with the Trust and NMC policies.
1.1 Communicating, influencing and working with the multidisciplinary team to promote excellent care and informed clinical decisions -
1.1 Ensuring that accurate and timely nursing records are maintained, monitoring standards and taking corrective action as appropriate.
To be pro active in the prevention and management of complaints responding in accordance with the St George's Healthcare NHS Trust complaints and improvements policies taking the lead in the absence of the Sister.
To scrub and assist the Neuroradiologists during diagnostic and interventional procedures.
To assess suitability for, plan, implement, evaluate clinical care and admit patients undergoing Day-Case-Angiography.

Qualifications and Training Essential
oRN (general). oEducated to a degree level or equivalent with evidence of further professional development oRelevant specialist course. oENB 998 or equivalent teaching oqualification. oEducation qualification.
Experience Essential
oMinimum of three years post registration experience. oTo have work experience in an acute or critical care setting. oPersonal Portfolio oEvidence of managing staff and dealing with difficult situations. oEvidence of teaching and mentoring. oRecent scrub nurse experience
