As the Senior Manager, Research Solutions Engineering, you will lead a team of experienced research technology professionals responsible for delivering and supporting advanced high-performance computing, storage, networking, and archival solutions for Purdue's research community. Working closely with the Director of Integrated Cyberinfrastructure and Research Solutions Engineering Leads, you will help guide strategic initiatives, oversee technology planning and infrastructure investments, support day-to-day operations, and represent the team on advisory, policy, and project committees. This role combines technical leadership, staff development, and operational management. To fulfill our mission, we: provide advanced computational resources and services to support Purdue faculty and staff researchers evaluate, deploy, and support hardware and software for large-scale scientific computing promote the effective use of our research computing systems and application software through training and education, consultation, and documentation contribute to the discovery process through algorithm design and development of effective computing techniques What We're Looking For Education and Experience Required: Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related business discipline. At least four (4) years of experience that shows a track record of taking on greater responsibility over time — for example, moving from individual technical work into leading projects, coordinating with other teams, or supervising or mentoring colleagues Experience in developing effective and collaborative partnerships within and across organizations Experience supervising direct reports or strong mentorship experience, including setting expectations, providing guidance, and feedback Consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred: Experience in using or administering services in relations to large-scale, Linux-based high-performance computing (HPC) clusters or configuring software programs and applications in Linux-based computing environments Skills Required: Knowledge of advanced computational resources and services to support research, such as HPC, research networks, operations, and data storage systems Excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate with faculty, students, colleagues, and leaders Strong Demonstrated ability to successfully lead and manage complex technical projects Ability to: work effectively both individually and as part of a team consult with and provide support for researchers, make presentations, develop and present training material, and develop reports promote team relationship skills and communication Additional Information: Purdue University will not sponsor employment authorization for this position A background check will be required for employment in this position FLSA: Exempt (Not Eligible for Overtime) Retirement Eligibility: Immediate Defined Contribution by the university Benefit Statement: Purdue University offers a substantial Benefit Package including medical, dental, and vision insurance as well as a generous paid time off package for sick and vacation days - Summary of Benefits for Tenured, Tenure Track, Clinical/Professional Faculty, Executive, Management levels 3-6 and Professional levels 4-6 - Human Resources - Purdue University Career Stream Management 3 Pay Band S075 Job Code #20002823 Career path maker: https://www.purdue.edu/hr/careerpathmaker/ The anticipated annual salary range for this position is $82,560 to $87,720 annually commensurate with the candidate’s education and experience.
