Job Summary The College of Agriculture’s Department of Agricultural Communications is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented student to assist with photography and visual content production for the College’s communications, marketing and storytelling efforts. Working directly with the staff photographer, the Student Photo Assistant will gain experience with digital asset management, photo editing and assisting on photo shoots within a higher education environment. The primary responsibilities of this position will include editing, organizing and adding metadata to photographs and assisting with professional photo shoots. This position is designed for a student interested in developing professional photography skills. Photo Editing and DAM -Perform basic photo editing, including exposure, color, cropping and image preparation for various uses. -Assist with exporting, resizing, naming and organizing images according to established workflows. -Help maintain organized photo archives and digital assets. -Prepare images for delivery to internal clients and communications partners. -Work on DAM organization. -Assist with updating images for Google Maps. Photo Assistant -Assist the college photographer with photo shoots, including portraits, events, classroom activities, research, agriculture and other campus of field assignments. -Assist with equipment preparation, transportation, setup and breakdown as needed. -Provide support during larger or more complex assignments. Core Competencies Experience with a digital asset management system, including organizing, using meta tags, and uploading final images into a shared database. Experience operating DLSR or mirrorless camera systems in a manual mode (adjusting ISO, aperture, and shutter speed). Education You must be a currently enrolled, degree-seeking undergraduate or graduate student at the Purdue West Lafayette campus. Experience Foundational proficiency with Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop, including exposure, color, cropping and image preparation for various uses. Experience setting up, tearing down, and safety transporting studio lighting equipment, backdrops, and lenses FLSA Status Non-Exempt
