Job Summary Purdue University | Remote for the right person The Cloud/AI Engineer, Associate will support Purdue's Cloud and AI initiatives as an early-career technology professional and a member of the IT Infrastructure team. This role will assist in the development, implementation, optimization, and maintenance of cloud-based AI technologies that support IT teams, researchers, and faculty. Responsibilities include helping deploy and troubleshoot cloud-based solutions, assisting with the implementation of cloud and AI policies and standards, supporting requests for new technologies and services, and helping maintain a secure and reliable cloud environment. The Cloud/AI Engineer, Associate will work closely with senior team members to monitor service availability, support cloud security initiatives, and contribute to automation efforts that improve operational efficiency. This position will assist in the creation and maintenance of operational procedures, documentation, and best practices related to cloud and AI infrastructure. The successful candidate will help evaluate cloud and AI solutions, support infrastructure maintenance activities, and learn to apply industry best practices and security standards in daily operations. Strong problem-solving skills, a desire to learn new technologies, and an interest in staying current with industry trends are essential. The role will also participate in an on-call rotation alongside infrastructure team members, with appropriate training and support. What We're Looking For Education and Experience Required: Bachelors degree in computer science, information technology, or a similar field At least one (1) year of experience in the field of cloud computing Skills Required: Azure, AWS, and GCP certifications preferred. Experience with tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Azure Experience with creating CI/CD pipelines for integrating IaC deployments into a deployment workflow supporting Proficient in networking Troubleshooting and analytical skills Strong collaboration and communication skills Ability to: interact with a variety of customers in a professional manner work independently and as a part of a team Preferred: Hypervisor/Virtualization experience Experience with: containerization environments SysOps configuration automation tools including Ansible, Chef, and/or Puppet Experience: developing solutions around well-known AI models such as ChatGPT, PaLM, and Llama using version control systems (like Git) to manage IaC configurations Additional Information: Purdue University will not sponsor employment authorization for this position A background check will be required for employment in this position FLSA: Exempt (Not Eligible for Overtime) Retirement Eligibility: Defined Contribution Waiting Period Benefit Statement: Purdue University offers a substantial Benefit Package including medical, dental, and vision insurance as well as a generous paid time off package for sick and vacation days - Summary of Benefits for Professional levels 1-3, Management levels 1-2 - Human Resources - Purdue University . The final salary offer will be determined based on a variety of factors, including equity, available budget, educational background, and relevant experience.
