About this role

UTHealth Houston is looking for a Coordinator I for Educational Programs to work with our Office of Interprofessional Education and Practice. Your goal will be to advise and help create educational content that this area will use across our seven different schools. This material can be accessed synchronously or asynchronously by students. It will involve simulations and specific coursework. We require someone who has completed at least a Bachelor’s degree and is interested in curriculum development. You will support the coordination of educational programs and the scheduling of events. There is a very administrative slant to this role, and you will be setting up Zoom meetings, sending links, corresponding with participants, and working with the learning management system Canvas. Experienced candidates with experience in virtual learning or online teaching are preferred, those who have assisted with education taught on Zoom or online. A background in public health or the medical field is an asset, but not a requirement. This coordinator will need to be flexible, as the program is always incorporating new technology and learning how to utilize these tools. You will constantly be working with new models of approaching curriculum and new coursework. This is a hybrid position, and you will need to come to the office as required by programs. You will also be expected to help run activities and simulations at various sites as needed. The average salary for this role is expected to be around $50,000. What we do here changes the world. Position Summary: Coordinates and administers educational programs. Position Key Accountabilities:

• Provides assistance with the coordination of a health education program in order to ensure the achievement of the program's goals and objectives. Conducts surveys, gathers, and analyzes health data to assist the faculty in the preparation of curriculum and audiovisual instructional materials. • Assists course coordinators in a research and/or educational program setting, in classroom teaching assignments, preparation of course syllabi, evaluating classroom presentations, ascertaining certain behavioral objectives, and ensuring the course outlines and lesson plans are current. • Organizes and coordinates teaching laboratory materials, maintains a list of all existing equipment and teaching aides. • Orders and maintains educational materials and equipment in order to ensure the availability of teaching aids for the health education programs. Maintains the Health Education Library, including current audiovisual instructional resources, in order to service laboratory and classroom training. Provides support within a clinical setting in recommending and implementing policies and procedures to improve students' practical clinical experience. • Directs, within a research setting, a lecture format and laboratory. • Makes recommendations, in either a clinical or research setting, regarding the development and implementation of new policies and procedures to improve medical care, planning, scheduling, and training of student and residents. • Maintains and assists faculty with the necessary updates to course-related websites. • Obtains proctors for examinations as well as proctor exams, assembles examinations, prepares slide carousels for faculty and students, posts grades to students, maintains grade rosters, and assists students and faculty with course questions. • Trains and assists faculty, residents, and other personnel on the slide scanner and other teaching equipment. • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in a related field required. May substitute required education with equivalent years of experience beyond the minimum experience requirement. Minimum Experience: At least 1 year of experience in an educational setting is required. Physical Requirements: Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects. Security Sensitive: This position is a security-sensitive position pursuant to Texas Education Code §51.215 and Texas Government Code §411.094. To the extent that a position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Texas Business and Commerce Code §117.001(2), the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired for and to continue to be employed in that position. Personnel in such positions, and similarly situated state contractors, will be routinely reviewed to determine whether things such as criminal history or continuous connections to the government or political apparatus of a foreign adversary might prevent the applicant, employee, or contractor from being able to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure. A foreign adversary is a nation listed in 15 C.F.R. §791.4. Residency Requirement: Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
