We are hiring a Biostatistician (Casual/ 10 hrs week) to join the UTHealth Houston School of Public Health in Houston. In this role, you will provide statistical and computational support for research using large datasets, including wearable, clinical, epidemiological, and genetic/genomic data. Works in cloud or high-performance computing environments and supports studies involving sleep, bioinformatics, and population health. Position Summary: Provides statistical and computational support for research using large datasets, including wearable, clinical, epidemiologic, and genetic/genomic data. Works in cloud or high-performance computing environments and supports studies involving sleep, bioinformatics, and population health. Position Key Accountabilities:
• Collaborates with investigators on study design, protocols, statistical analysis plans, and interpretation of results.
• Processes and analyzes large-scale longitudinal wearable data, including sleep, activity, heart rate, and circadian measures.
• Integrates wearable-derived measures with clinical, epidemiologic, and genetic/genomic datasets.
• Develops reproducible analytic pipelines using R and/or Python in cloud or high-performance computing environments.
• Performs statistical analyses for longitudinal studies.
• Conducts data cleaning, quality control, harmonization.
• May conduct ad hoc analyses.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Certification/Skills:
• Strong statistical programming and data-management skills. • Ability to work with large, multimodal datasets and reproducible analytic workflows. Minimum Education:
• Master's Degree in related health science required Doctorate Degree - PhD preferred Minimum Experience:
• 2 years of statistician experience required. • Experience in data analysis of large administrative datasets (claims, registries, EMR) and observational studies, preferred. • SAS experienced preferred • 2 years of statistical or computational analysis experience in biomedical or health research, preferred. • Experience working with large datasets and programming in R and/or Python, preferred. • Experience with cloud computing and/or high-performance computing, preferred. • Experience with longitudinal analysis, epidemiology, or bioinformatics, preferred. Physical Requirements: Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
