Job Requirements The Clinical Nurse, UMMS Staffing Center, provides safe, evidence-based, patient- and family-centered care across multiple UMMS clinical environments. This OB Float opportunity is designed for nurses who enjoy variety and can confidently transition between community, city, and county hospital settings throughout the Baltimore area based on organizational needs. The ideal candidate has experience in Labor & Delivery, Antepartum, Mother/Baby, or Nursery and is comfortable adapting to different clinical environments, patient populations, and unit workflows. Key Responsibilities
• Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to OB patients and newborns based on unit needs and validated competencies. • Float between multiple UMMS hospital environments, including community, city, and county hospitals in the Baltimore area. • Adapt quickly to different unit workflows, teams, patient populations, and clinical settings. • Perform assessments, administer medications, implement nursing interventions, and evaluate patient outcomes. • Collaborate with patients, families, providers, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, coordinated care. • Maintain competency in assigned OB clinical areas and follow UMMS policies, procedures, and standards. • Support staffing needs while maintaining flexibility, professionalism, and strong communication across environments. • Maintain required licensure, certifications, education, and clinical competencies. • Participate in quality, safety, and professional development activities. • Perform other related duties as assigned. OB Role Specific Qualifications
• Current and active unencumbered Registered Nurse license in the State of Maryland or eligibility through the Nurse Licensure Compact. • American Heart Association (AHA) BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required. · Minimum of two (2) years of recent OB care nursing experience within the past 12 months. in Labor & Delivery, Antepartum, Mother/Baby, or Nursery.
• Ability and willingness to float between multiple hospital environments. • Strong adaptability, communication, and clinical judgment. Ob Role Preferred Qualifications
• STABLE certification preferred, but not required. • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) experience/certification preferred, but not required. • Experience working across multiple OB or hospital settings.
Work Experience Education & Experience - Required
• Current and active unencumbered Registered Nurse license in the State of Maryland or eligibility through the Nurse Licensure Compact. • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS). • Additional certifications and experience requirements (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP, NIHSS) are required based on unit-specific competencies • Minimum of two (2) years of recent acute care nursing experience within the past 12 months. • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited nursing school. Education & Experience - Preferred
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
