Communications Technician I - Structured Cabling Technician Position Summary The Communications Technician I is an entry-level structured cabling professional responsible for installing, routing, supporting, labeling, and terminating low-voltage cable systems in commercial environments. This role supports telecommunications and network infrastructure projects by assisting with telecommunications room buildouts, rack installations, patch panels, cable management systems, and related infrastructure. Candidates should have strong mechanical aptitude, a commitment to safety, and a willingness to learn and develop technical skills. Required Skills & Experience
• Low-voltage cable installation and routing • Cable termination • Structured cabling installation • Telecommunications infrastructure support • Blueprint and drawing interpretation • Construction site safety awareness Key Responsibilities
• Install and route voice and data cabling in commercial environments. • Build and organize telecommunications closets, racks, patch panels, and cross-connects. • Install cable support systems, including J-hooks, D-rings, cable trays, and trapeze supports. • Perform low-voltage cable terminations. • Complete fire-stopping and cable penetration work in accordance with code requirements. • Label, organize, and document cabling installations accurately. • Follow all company and job site safety standards. • Work from ladders, above ceilings, and in active construction environments. • Support the installation and maintenance of critical voice and data network infrastructure. Preferred Qualifications
• Exposure to fiber optic cabling • Basic construction experience • Mechanical aptitude • Ability to travel as required • Proficiency with basic hand tools • Strong documentation and paperwork accuracy Education & Experience
• High School Diploma or GED required • 0-1 year of experience in telecommunications, structured cabling, construction, or a related technical field preferred What You'll Gain

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
