Job Title: Shipping and Receiving SpecialistJob DescriptionThe Shipping and Receiving Specialist ensures accurate, safe, and efficient handling of finished products and raw materials. This role focuses on meeting daily packing throughput, maintaining high packaging quality standards, and keeping inventory organized and documented within the MRP system. The specialist supports production and administrative teams by coordinating packaging materials, staging skids, and following detailed work order instructions to meet customer and internal deadlines. Responsibilities • Meet daily packing throughput requirements while maintaining consistent productivity and accuracy. • Maintain a packaging quality level that ensures finished products are delivered with no lost parts or damage. • Accurately count and organize shipped products, maintaining an error rate of less than 0.5%. • Scan and process work orders in the MIE MRP system, ensuring all entries are accurate and timely. • Accurately document work order shipping information, including quantities, dates, and shipping details. • Observe work order due dates and prioritize packaging and shipping activities accordingly. • Count and process incoming raw materials upon receipt, ensuring quantities and descriptions are correct. • Tag all received raw materials as needed to support traceability and inventory control. • Avoid top loading skids or placing runners in ways that may cause damage to raw materials. • Keep all raw materials organized after receiving, ensuring racks and forklift zones remain free from obstructions. • Coordinate with administrative staff to purchase appropriate packaging supplies and skids, and monitor quantities and re-order points. • Coordinate with the fabrication lead to stage standard skids (48x72, 48x40, 36x36, 24x24) in facility work centers and monitor skid inventory. • Follow written work order shipping instructions precisely to ensure correct packaging and shipment. • Review email expedite instructions during the shift and adjust priorities as needed. • Move all empty second shift pallets to the yard as needed and maintain an organized yard and empty pallet area. • Perform basic visual reviews of the cosmetic quality of finished products and incoming raw materials to identify obvious defects or damage. • Follow established safety procedures at all times while operating in the warehouse and production areas. • Perform housekeeping and refuse removal tasks daily to support a clean and safe facility. • Maintain a clean and well-organized work area, including packaging stations, racks, and pallet zones. • Use RF scanner equipment to support inventory, picking, and shipping activities. • Handle materials safely and efficiently, including loading, unloading, and staging products and raw materials. Essential Skills • High school diploma. • At least 2 years of manufacturing or shipping and receiving experience. • Experience with inventory handling and control in a manufacturing or warehouse environment. • Proficiency with data entry for work orders and documentation. • Ability to scan and process work orders using an MRP system, specifically MIE MRP or similar. • Experience using RF scanner guns for inventory, picking, and shipping tasks. • Knowledge of shipping and receiving processes, including packaging, labeling, and documentation. • Ability to accurately count products and materials with a very low error rate. • Capability to follow written instructions, work order details, and email expedite directions. • Strong attention to detail for packaging quality and cosmetic inspection of products and materials. • Commitment to following established safety procedures in a manufacturing or warehouse setting. • Ability to maintain an organized work area, including racks, pallet zones, and yard storage. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience with MRP systems in a manufacturing environment. • Previous hands-on experience in packaging operations and material handling. • Familiarity with standard skid sizes such as 48x72, 48x40, 36x36, and 24x24. • Ability to coordinate with administrative and fabrication teams to manage packaging supplies and skid staging. • Strong organizational skills for managing raw materials, finished goods, and pallet storage areas. • Basic visual inspection skills to identify cosmetic defects or damage in products and materials. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Commack, NY. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr.
