Job summary
CSH Surrey is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Podiatrist to join our Adult Services team in a developmental role, transitioning from a Band 6 to Band 7, over a period of time.This is an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Podiatrist with strong foundations in clinical practice who wishes to progress into a senior Band 7 position through a structured competency-based development programme.
The postholder will work within community podiatry services delivering high-quality care to patients with a range of foot health needs, including those at high risk of complications. You will be supported with structured supervision, mentorship, and access to training to develop advanced clinical and leadership skills.

Main duties of the job
Band 6 (Development Phase)Deliver evidence-based podiatry care to patients with at-risk foot conditions, musculoskeletal problems and minor surgery.Undertake assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning for a defined caseload, including domiciliary care.Develop skills in high-risk foot management, including diabetic wound careWork as part of a multidisciplinary team in acute settingsDevelop MSK clinics with the specialist teamMaintain accurate clinical records in line with organisational standardsParticipate in audit, service improvement, and CPD activities
Band 7 (Upon Completion of Competencies)
Manage a complex caseload including high-risk and ulcerated patientsParticipate in delivering of MSK servicesProvide clinical leadership and supervision to junior staff and studentsContribute to service development, pathways, and quality improvement initiativesLead on clinical audits and implementation of best practice guidelinesSupport workforce development and training within the serviceWork closely with MDT colleagues including vascular teams, diabetes services, and GPs
Progression from Band 6 to Band 7 will be achieved through:
Completion of an agreed competency frameworkDemonstration of advanced clinical reasoning and autonomous practiceEvidence of leadership, supervision, and service development involvementFormal review and sign-off by senior clinical leads

Job description Job responsibilities
An experienced and motivated Podiatrist providing high-quality assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of a wide range of foot and lower limb conditions within community and multidisciplinary settings, including domiciliary working. Responsible for managing a complex caseload, including patients with high-risk foot complications, diabetes, musculoskeletal conditions, vascular disease and nail surgery.
Key responsibilities include:
Delivering evidence-based podiatry assessment, treatment and rehabilitation plans.Managing patients with complex clinical needs and identifying those requiring urgent intervention or referral.Undertaking routine and specialist podiatry procedures, including nail surgery where appropriate.Working autonomously while contributing effectively within multidisciplinary teams.Providing education and self-management advice to patients, carers and healthcare professionals.Maintaining accurate clinical records and ensuring compliance with professional, clinical governance and safeguarding standards.Participating in service development, audit, quality improvement and evidence-based practice initiatives.Supporting student placements, junior staff development and clinical supervision (particularly at Band 7 level).Contributing to risk management, infection prevention and health and safety requirements.Band 6 focus: Independent management of a varied caseload, development of specialist clinical skills, participation in multidisciplinary working, and support of students and assistants.
Band 7 focus: Advanced clinical decision-making, management of highly complex patients, leadership within the podiatry service, supervision of staff, service development, audit, training, and contribution to strategic objectives.
The successful candidate will be HCPC-registered, demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills, and be committed to delivering patient-centred care that improves outcomes and promotes independence.
