POSITION SUMMARY: The Court Liaison is responsible for overseeing all court related processes for patients requiring involuntary treatment for mental health and substance use conditions. This position represents the hospital by appearing at probable cause hearings and providing accurate, objective clinical information as required. The role is accountable for fostering effective working relationships between the hospital, the court system, county representatives, and treating physicians. Additionally, the Court Liaison ensures all court documentation is complete, accurate, and submitted within required timelines and deadlines established by the court. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job, an individual must perform each essential function satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation. • Oversee all court‑related procedures for patients requiring involuntary treatment for mental health and substance use conditions, ensuring full compliance with legal and organizational standards. • Prepare, complete, and process all legal documentation related to court commitments in a timely, accurate, and organized manner. • Attend and actively participate in treatment team rounds to gather and communicate clinically relevant information for court proceedings. • Represent the hospital at probable cause hearings by presenting accurate and objective clinical information. • Communicate effectively with court‑appointed attorneys by providing timely, pertinent, and comprehensive case information. • Collaborate closely with the county attorney’s office to ensure the submission of accurate, complete, and legally compliant documentation. • Maintain strong working relationships with the court system, county agencies, physicians, and hospital departments to support seamless coordination of legal processes. • Consult with the organization’s corporate legal advisor regarding legal procedures, documentation standards, and compliance expectations. • Foster positive and professional relationships with external partners, including county representatives and members of the local court system. • Ensure all patient charts are accurately updated with court documentation, hearing outcomes, and required legal correspondence. • Attend hospital meetings and trainings as assigned by the supervisor to remain informed of organizational policies, legal updates, and procedural changes. • Maintain strict adherence to confidentiality standards, patient rights regulations, and all relevant legal and ethical guidelines. • Monitor deadlines established by the court to ensure all filings, notifications, and documents are submitted within required timeframes. • Always exhibit the company’s core values of champion patient care, do the right thing, embrace individuality, act with kindness, and making a difference together. • Other duties as assigned Additional Information: Access to and/or works with sensitive and/or confidential information. Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of healthcare regulatory and compliance (e.g., HIPAA). Skilled in the application of policies and procedures. QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Criminal Justice, or related clinical field from an accredited school required. Master’s degree in clinical field from an accredited school preferred. • One year of experience in court proceedings required. • One year of experience in behavioral health care preferred. • CPR certification is required within 30 days of employment and prior to any patient contact. • De-escalation certification is required within 30 days of employment and prior to completion of orientation. Works in well-lit, ventilated and climate controlled office environment with routine office equipment; some equipment has moving mechanical parts.

In hospital/behavioral health environment, may be exposed to hazards and unusual elements, which may include but are not limited to bloodborne pathogens and / or contagious illnesses, toxic chemicals, and biohazardous materials which may require extensive safety precautions and the use of protective equipment.
