Location: St Helens Chamber, Salisbury Street, St Helens, WA10 1FY Working pattern: Hybrid, including three office-based days per week Contract: Self-employed Commission: 40% on supplied opportunities and 70% on self-generated business

The opportunity Mortgage Advice Bureau North West Limited is looking for an experienced Mortgage & Protection Adviser to join its team in St Helens. This is a retention-focused position offering access to an established client bank. You will help existing customers review their mortgage arrangements and protection needs, delivering suitable advice and developing long-term relationships.

Key responsibilities

Contacting existing customers approaching the end of their mortgage arrangementsProviding suitable mortgage and protection adviceAdvising customers on remortgages, product transfers and other appropriate mortgage optionsReviewing existing protection arrangements and identifying any changes in customer needsRecommending suitable life insurance, critical illness and income protection solutionsManaging customer relationships and encouraging long-term retentionFollowing up supplied leads promptly and professionallyDeveloping additional opportunities through referrals and self-generated businessCompleting comprehensive fact-finds and suitability assessmentsPreparing mortgage applications before handing cases to the administrative teamMaintaining accurate customer and compliance recordsDelivering an excellent customer experience throughout the advice process About you We would like to hear from candidates who: Hold CeMAP or an equivalent recognised mortgage qualificationAre qualified and competent to provide mortgage and protection adviceHave achieved Competent Adviser StatusHave previous experience as a Mortgage & Protection AdviserAre confident advising on remortgages and product transfersCan identify and convert opportunities from an established client bankHave a strong understanding of mortgage and protection productsBuild lasting relationships with customersAre comfortable working on a self-employed basisCan manage their own diary, pipeline and business activityAre motivated to develop self-generated opportunitiesCan attend the St Helens office three days each weekDeliver consistently high standards of customer service and compliance The package 40% commission on company-provided opportunities70% commission on self-generated businessAccess to an established customer back bookAdministrative support at the mortgage application stageHybrid workingAccess to Mortgage Advice Bureau systemsThe backing of a recognised national mortgage networkFreedom to develop your own client bank and referral relationshipsGenuine scope to grow a successful self-employed advice business Working arrangements The successful adviser will work from the St Helens office three days per week, with flexibility to work remotely for the remainder of the week. Access to Mortgage Advice Bureau systems will be provided. As this is a self-employed position, you will need to supply your own suitable computer, telephone and other equipment required to perform the role.
