SUBSTITUTE JOB DESCRIPTION Position Title: Substitute Teacher (Long-Term Substitute - 3rd Grade Math & Science) Wage/Hour Status: Exempt: GED or HS Diploma - $100 per day/$50 per half-day Has Degree - $110 per day/$55 per half-day Has Valid Teaching Certificate - $120/day/ $60/half-day Reports to: Director/Principal School: Liberation Academy QUALIFICATIONS Education: High School Graduate and 30 hours of college is preferred
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS • Ability to instruct children assigned
PHYSICAL ABILITIES • Ability to stand for at least thirty minutes outside within 15 feet of students • Ability to assist students tying shoes and button or unbutton coats
PURPOSE • This is a long term substitute position. You will be working every day until the regular classroom teacher returns. • Provide instructional services to elementary students. • Provide a safe learning environment for all students.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Instructional delivery • Deliver daily instruction to students assigned • Actively engage student in learning • Assist regular classroom teacher with in classroom duties and management as they work remotely
Student discipline • Maintain classroom discipline conducive to a learning environment • Provide redirection and disciplinary alternatives to correct student behavior
Management • Maintain accurate records of student attendance • Compile all records as requested • Supervise students on field trips and events at the school and off site, if necessary
WORKING ENVIRONMENT • Maintain emotional control under the stress of instructional operations • Be flexible in assisting others as requested
Retirement is through a FICA Alternative Plan, 457(b), and not the Teacher Retirement System of Texas.
