RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead students in outdoors activities including working in the gardens, exploring campus ecology, doing outdoor activities, outdoor play, nature crafts and team games Work with Farm Director to develop and implement inquiry based, hands on educational programs that matches the goals of environmental sustainability and social responsibility on the farm Incorporate art, music, science, history or other passion areas into student learning Work in cooperation with co-counselors and farm director General Information: The Compass School is a K-8 public charter school focused on environmental sustainability and social responsibility. Our historic farm property offers a beautiful food growing environment for small groups of students to engage in project learning with ties to the school day curriculum. The farm also serves as an educational resource; supporting the school mission through curriculum enhancement and community outreach.
QUALIFICATIONS: Must have experience working with K-8th grade students Experience with outdoor education is strongly preferred. Enjoy being outdoors, teaching, be a self-starter, leading outdoor play and projects Applications for this position will be accepted on a rolling basis. Criminal Background specific to The Compass School required Current 1st aid/CPR required. Flexible and creative with children and co-workers Ability to organize and prioritize, manage time effectively, complete tasks efficiently Hourly pay is commensurate with experience, ranging from $16 to $24 per hour.
