Maintenance - Sports Facilities and Grounds JOB SUMMARY: Hamilton Community Schools has a part-time Maintenance opening for a Groundskeeper, primarily responsible for the upkeep of sports facilities and district grounds. The goal of this role is to assist in maintaining school grounds in a safe and attractive condition that contributes to a positive environment for learning and community engagement. The Groundskeeper performs landscaping tasks using power equipment and hand tools, as well as assists with snow and ice removal from sidewalks, parking areas, and school entrances. This position reports directly to the Maintenance and Grounds Supervisor. REPORTS TO: Maintenance and Grounds Supervisor FLSA STATUS: Nonexempt WORK SCHEDULE: Year-round, full-time position up to 40 hours per week. PAY SCALE: Commensurate according to professional training and experience ($18.87/hour Base) BENEFITS:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB Essential functions are the core responsibilities required to successfully perform this role. These duties support the safe, attractive, and effective operation of District grounds, athletic facilities, and outdoor spaces. The Maintenance - Sports Facilities and Grounds employee is also responsible for other duties as assigned by the Maintenance and Grounds Supervisor to meet the evolving needs of the District. Grounds and Landscape Maintenance
• Maintain District grounds, lawns, landscaped areas, sidewalks, parking areas, and other outdoor spaces in a safe, clean, and attractive condition.
• Perform mowing, trimming, weed control, leaf removal, watering, planting, pruning, and other routine landscaping tasks.
• Apply fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides as directed and in accordance with applicable licensing and safety requirements.
Athletic Facilities
• Maintain athletic and sports facilities in a clean, safe, and usable condition.
• Prepare facilities for practices, competitions, and events, including setup and removal of athletic equipment.
• Clean bleachers, spectator areas, fields, and related facilities and perform minor or emergency repairs as needed.
Equipment, Snow Removal, and Safety
• Safely operate and perform routine maintenance on landscaping, grounds, and snow-removal tools and equipment.
• Assist with snow and ice removal from sidewalks, entrances, parking areas, and other District property.
• Follow established safety procedures and applicable regulations when operating equipment, handling chemicals, and performing assigned work; promptly report unsafe conditions or equipment concerns.
Professional Responsibilities
• Complete assigned work independently and collaboratively while following established schedules, work orders, and supervisor direction.
• Communicate and work professionally with District staff, students, contractors, and members of the public.
• Participate in required training and maintain licenses or certifications applicable to assigned duties.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Maintenance and Grounds Supervisor or District administration.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required
• Valid driver's license required
• Prior experience in groundskeeping or landscaping preferred
• Ability to safely operate and maintain a variety of landscaping tools and power equipment
• Basic understanding of landscaping techniques, including mowing, trimming, planting, and weed control
• Strong time management, organizational, and communication skills
• Detail-oriented with the ability to follow instructions accurately
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team to complete assigned tasks
• Willingness to learn new job skills, technologies, and work processes
• Must possess and maintain appropriate licenses or certifications required for the role
• A Commercial Pesticide Applicator License is preferred, or willingness to obtain
• Must be neat in appearance and demonstrate good habits, character, and attendance
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English at a level sufficient to perform job duties effectively
• Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, and the school community
• Commitment to following all district policies, especially those related to a tobacco-, nicotine-, and vaping-free environment
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. • Regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms;
• Clear vision and hearing required for communication and safety

• Ability to work in various weather conditions
• Frequent walking, standing, bending, stretching, and kneeling
• Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl;
• Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds. Occasional lifting of equipment weighing up to approximately 75 pounds may be required
• Must be physically able to operate landscaping equipment
• The environment also exposes the employee to potentially hazardous substances;
