About this role
Primary Function: The primary function of a high school weight room supervisor is to ensure student safety and oversee daily facility operations. Their main duties and responsibilities include:
• Enforcing safety protocols, ensuring proper form/spotting, preventing injuries, and directly monitoring student behavior to maintain a structured environment.
• Guiding student-athletes on how to properly use cardiovascular and weight-training equipment and demonstrating proper exercise execution.
• Inspecting equipment for safety, maintaining cleanliness, ensuring weights are re-racked, and securing the facility after use.
Qualifications:
• Current Northview Public Schools Educator at Crossroads Middle School or Northview High School or other flexible position.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to manage and resolve conflicts calmly and fairly.
• Knowledge of fitness facility management and fitness technique to keep students safe.
• Patience, understanding, and a positive attitude.
Directly Responsible To:
• Northview High School Athletic Director
Working Conditions:
• Regular interaction with students, coaches, and school staff.
• Supervision of students during after-school workouts will require knowledge of safe workout techniques to prevent student injury.
Additional Requirements:
• Position will require cleaning and maintaining equipment and workout space including racking of weights, and putting equipment away in proper location.
• Commitment to fostering a safe, respectful, and positive environment for all students.
• Collaboration with High School coaches as needed.
Other Duties
• Enforcing district policies, appropriate conduct, dress codes, and weight room etiquette among students.
• Submitting accident/injury reports, logging equipment maintenance needs, and serving as a direct point of contact for the Athletic Director.
• Opening and locking down the weight room and ensuring lights and systems are turned off.
• Regularly disinfecting machines, benches, and free weights, as well as wiping down surfaces between user groups.
Terms of Employment:
• Monday through Thursday weight room supervision from 2:45 pm - 4:00 pm.
• 23 week position begins October 5, 2026, ends April 1, 2027; 5 hours per week, not to exceed 115 hours total.
• Pay is $20 per hour and paid through Northview payroll
