Responsibilities: - Perform welding on quarry machinery and equipment. - Set up MIG welding equipment, selecting the appropriate wire, shielding gas and settings for each job. - Clean and prepare steel components using grinders and cutting tools before welding. - Conduct repairs and maintenance to ensure optimal functioning of heavy machinery. - Diagnose issues and implement necessary repairs promptly. - Ensure compliance with safety standards and company regulations. - Work collaboratively with the maintenance team to minimize equipment downtime. Requirements: - Proven MIG welding experience, ideally repairing heavy machinery, plant equipment or structural steel. - Ability to read fabrication drawings, take accurate measurements and produce strong, consistent welds. - Experience preparing, cutting and fitting steel components before welding. - Confidence working on worn or damaged equipment and choosing practical repair methods. - Commitment to safe working practices, including the correct use of PPE in a quarry environment.
