Job SummaryYou will serve as a MECHANICAL ENGINEER in the COMBAT SYSTEMS DIVISION, ENGINEERING & PLANNING DEPARTMENT (c290) of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF.
QualificationsYour resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional engineer in a lead position as a technical advisor providing technical guidance and field engineering services to ensure proper installation, modification, overhaul, and operation as related to depot and/or intermediate level (D-Level and/or I-Level) maintenance of cognizant combat systems associated with US Navy ships, primarily fast attack submarines. An expert with technical references and I-Level project management tools (MSE apps, eFORMS, etc.) used to accomplish work; proficient in developing knowledge, skills, and abilities in others through coaching and mentoring. Has completed the Lead Engineer Development Card per CSD SOP 02 (or equivalent), is SUBSAFE qualified per N/S 0924-062-0010, designated as 2nd reviewer & SUBSAFE Technical Point of Contact (SSTPOC) within a combat systems AOR. Major DutiesYou will provide technical direction for engineering requirements on surface ship/submarine combat systems for all non-nuclear support work.You will troubleshoot specific Combat Systems equipment, which may require circuit analysis.You will provide technical direction, guidance and assistance in the development and implementation of shipyard training programs as required to support accomplishment of cognizant non-nuclear work on surface ship/submarine combat systems components.You will conduct independent engineering studies, investigations, research, and analysis for the solution of unusual or unprecedented engineering problems or in support of short and long-term engineering projects on assigned ships.You will act as a lead/oversight troubleshooter in the identification and resolution of problems encountered during installation, grooming, or testing phases of waterfront production efforts.You will develop technical risk assessments, recommendations and accomplish other required actions to address planned and emergent issues on assigned ships.You will translate customer work scopes for alterations, repairs, and conversions, when not prepared by the Design Agent, into Task Group Instructions, preparing man day and material cost estimates.You will assist the Project Team with the solution of problems developing in connection with Task Group Instructions, Deficiency logs, work task, estimates and material.
