Welder / FitterJob DescriptionThis role focuses on performing Metal Core Arc Welding (MCAW), primarily in the horizontal position, within a fast-paced production facility that manufactures custom pre-engineered steel building systems. You will fit, assemble, and weld complex structural steel components using specialized production jigs to support high-quality and efficient fabrication for a wide range of commercial, industrial, agricultural, recreational, and residential projects.Responsibilities

• Assemble, fit, and weld beams, HSS tubing, channels, angles, and plate components using production jigs and fixtures to meet production and quality requirements. • Perform Metal Core Arc Welding (MCAW), primarily in the horizontal position, on structural steel components according to established procedures and standards. • Read and interpret complex blueprints, shop drawings, and standard welding symbols to ensure all work meets design specifications and tolerances. • Inspect welds and structural components for quality and accuracy, identifying and correcting defects in accordance with welding standards. • Use grinders, torches, and other fabrication tools to prepare, finish, repair, and maintain welds and components as required. • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while working with welding equipment, fabrication tools, and structural steel materials. • Handle and move steel components and materials, including lifting items up to 50 lbs., in a safe and efficient manner. • Collaborate with production team members to maintain workflow, meet deadlines, and support continuous improvement in fabrication processes. • Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools, equipment, and jigs are in proper working condition. Essential Skills

• 23 years of experience performing Metal Core Arc Welding (MCAW). • Hands-on experience welding structural steel components in a production or fabrication environment. • Strong ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, shop drawings, and standard weld symbols. • Proficiency in MIG welding and stick welding techniques. • Ability to use grinders, torches, and other fabrication tools safely and effectively. • Capability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 lbs. • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining weld quality and compliance with welding standards. • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, production-oriented setting. Additional Skills & Qualifications

• CWB welding ticket is considered an asset. • Fitting experience with structural steel components is preferred. • Experience in a custom shop welding environment is an advantage. • Knowledge of flux core welding processes. • Experience using specialized production jigs and fixtures in a fabrication environment. The setting is industrial and hands-on, requiring adherence to safety practices and appropriate work attire suitable for a fabrication shop. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Stoney Creek, ON. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $39.52 - $47.12/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
