Aerotek is hiring a MIG Welder/Fabricator! This is a day shift position offering weekly pay!Job DescriptionThis role combines MIG welding and general labor within an equipment refurbishment division that restores industrial machinery to reliable working condition. You will prepare and repair metal surfaces, assist with demolition and reassembly tasks, and support a small, skilled team in a traditional manufacturing environment that values hands-on craftsmanship and strong work ethic.Responsibilities
• Perform manual surface preparation on industrial equipment, including scraping, grinding, and sanding to remove old paint, rust, and debris. • Carry out MIG welding tasks to repair, reinforce, or modify metal components as part of the refurbishment process. • Assist with basic demolition activities to remove outdated, damaged, or worn components from machinery and structures. • Operate hand and power tools such as grinders, drills, impact wrenches, and sanders safely and efficiently. • Read and interpret tape measures and basic mechanical drawings to ensure accurate cuts, fits, and assemblies. • Support technicians with disassembly, cleaning, inspection, and reassembly of industrial machinery and equipment. • Lift, move, and position heavy parts and materials using hoists, dollies, or forklifts, following safe material-handling practices. • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace by following all safety protocols and housekeeping standards. • Handle general labor tasks such as stacking materials, assisting in concrete-related work, and performing material handling duties as needed. • Participate in construction and production-related activities associated with equipment refurbishment and fabrication. • Adapt to a variety of assignments and changing priorities, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to take on new tasks. • Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate work, resolve issues, and ensure projects move forward efficiently. Essential Skills
• Proven experience in industrial labor, construction, production, or mechanical repair environments (preferred). • Hands-on experience with general labor tasks such as stacking, assembly, and material handling. • Ability to operate basic hand tools and power tools, including grinders, drills, impact wrenches, and sanders. • Comfort working in dusty, noisy, and physically demanding environments with frequent lifting and manual tasks. • Capability to read a tape measure accurately and follow written and verbal instructions. • Mechanical aptitude with a strong willingness to learn, take initiative, and support skilled technicians. • Experience operating forklifts or other material-handling equipment (forklift certification is a plus). • Reliability, strong work ethic, and commitment to safety in an industrial setting. • Experience with MIG welding in a manufacturing or refurbishment environment. • Familiarity with concrete work and basic demolition practices. • Exposure to production environments involving stacking, assembly, and power tool operation. • Forklift certification or documented heavy equipment experience. • Ability to read and understand basic mechanical drawings. • Comfort working with manual machines, sandblasting equipment, and fabrication tools. • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to contribute positively within a small crew. The work environment has an old-school manufacturing feel, with distinct areas for fabrication, painting and sandblasting, welding, and storage for train cars undergoing refurbishment. You will work around manual machinery, welding stations, sandblasting equipment, and various hand and power tools on a daily basis. The facility is not temperature-controlled, so working conditions vary with the seasons, and you should be comfortable in environments that can be hot, cold, dusty, and noisy. The work is physically demanding and hands-on, with frequent lifting, material handling, and use of industrial equipment in a practical, shop-floor setting. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newark, DE. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
