Job Title: Food Production WorkerJob DescriptionThe Food Production Worker supports daily manufacturing operations by safely and efficiently producing high-quality food products in accordance with company standards, food safety regulations, and WorkSafeBC requirements. This role involves operating and monitoring production equipment, handling and preparing food products, maintaining strict sanitation and housekeeping standards, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Responsibilities • Perform a variety of production tasks such as mixing, assembling, cooking, forming, packaging, labeling, and palletizing food products across prep, cooking, forming, and boxing areas, with a strong likelihood of working in forming or boxing as a temporary contractor. • Operate and monitor production machinery and equipment in a safe, efficient, and consistent manner while following all standard operating procedures (SOPs). • Follow production schedules and recipes accurately to meet productivity, quality, and yield targets. • Comply with all food safety programs, including HACCP, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and sanitation procedures at all times. • Perform regular quality checks on products and materials, promptly reporting any deviations, defects, or non-conformances. • Maintain accurate production and quality records to support traceability and regulatory compliance. • Ensure proper handling, storage, labeling, and traceability of raw ingredients, in-process materials, and finished products. • Follow all WorkSafeBC requirements and company health and safety policies, including safe work procedures and reporting protocols. • Use required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times and ensure it is worn correctly throughout the shift. • Report safety hazards, near misses, or incidents immediately and participate in corrective actions where required. • Participate actively in safety training sessions and toolbox meetings to support a strong safety culture. • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, equipment, and tools to meet sanitation and audit standards. • Perform cleaning and sanitation tasks as assigned, including equipment and production areas, to support allergen control and prevent cross-contamination. • Work collaboratively with team members and supervisors to achieve production goals and resolve issues as they arise. • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on waste reduction, process efficiency, and product quality. • Assist in training and supporting new employees by demonstrating proper procedures, safety practices, and quality standards. • Perform repetitive tasks while maintaining focus on quality, safety, and efficiency throughout the shift. • Handle chicken, beef, and pork products safely and in accordance with all food safety and hygiene requirements. Essential Skills • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English accurately and consistently. • Strong attention to detail with a clear commitment to product quality and food safety. • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, repetitive production environment. • Basic math and record-keeping skills to support production counts, documentation, and traceability. • Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the shift. • Ability to lift up to 2550 pounds (with or without accommodation) repeatedly during the shift. • Ability to work safely and comfortably in a cooled environment of approximately 4 degrees. • Ability to work with chicken, beef, and pork products as part of daily production tasks. • Ability to wear required PPE for the entire shift, including steel-toe footwear and other protective equipment provided on-site. • Ability to perform repetitive motions while maintaining accuracy and focus. • Flexibility with working times, including availability for different shifts and potential overtime. • Ability to comply with HACCP, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and other food safety and sanitation requirements. • Ability to adhere to WorkSafeBC safety requirements and internal safety policies. Additional Skills & Qualifications • High school diploma or equivalent preferred. • Previous experience in food manufacturing, food production, or warehouse environments is an asset. • Experience in food preparation, kitchen prep, or related roles is considered an advantage. • Familiarity with HACCP principles and documentation is an asset. • Experience working in a GMP environment or other regulated production setting is beneficial. • Comfort working in temperature-controlled production areas. • Willingness to support continuous improvement, waste reduction, and efficiency initiatives. • Availability for both AM and PM shifts is ideal, with flexibility to work Saturdays when needed. Work EnvironmentThe role is based in a food manufacturing facility that operates multiple shifts and temperature-controlled production areas. Shift work may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and statutory holidays, with overtime required based on operational needs. The first shift typically starts between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. and runs for 8 hours, while the second shift starts between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. and also runs for 8 hours. Ideally, employees are available for both AM and PM shifts and can work on Saturdays when required. The work environment includes exposure to food ingredients, chicken, beef, and pork products, as well as production equipment and cooled areas at approximately 4 degrees. Employees stand for extended periods, perform repetitive tasks, and lift up to 2550 pounds throughout the shift. Personal protective equipment is mandatory; employees must provide their own steel-toe footwear, while all other PPE is supplied. A locker is provided for personal belongings, and employees bring a day-use lock. The facility follows HACCP and GMP standards, with a strong focus on sanitation, allergen control, and cross-contamination prevention, creating a structured and safety-focused production environment. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Richmond, BC. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.50 - $19.50/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
