1st shift Maintenance Technician/ Electrician up to $42/hour!Job DescriptionThis role supports a long-established manufacturer and supplier of custom plastic profile extrusions serving transportation, agriculture, energy, refrigeration, retail, commercial, and building industries. As a Maintenance Technician, you will focus on troubleshooting, repairing, and optimizing production and facility equipment, with a strong emphasis on electrical and mechanical maintenance in a plastics extrusion environment.Responsibilities

• Perform troubleshooting operations to diagnose the condition of facilities, equipment, and machinery, and take appropriate action to complete repairs and adjustments. • Make setups and adjustments on production equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation. • Repair and maintain a wide range of equipment including extruders, saws, pullers, conveyors, vacuums, loaders, pumps, gear boxes, and related machinery. • Conduct primarily reactive maintenance while also performing a variety of maintenance, testing, inspection, and repair functions as needed. • Ensure all equipment repairs are completed safely so that operating machinery does not pose a risk of injury to employees or damage to equipment. • Accurately enter maintenance hours into the CMMS system each day and sign out inventory to corresponding work orders. • Use a voltmeter to diagnose electrical issues and verify proper operation of equipment. • Apply knowledge of voltage, current, and resistance, including AC and DC voltage, during troubleshooting and repair activities. • Change motors, read and interpret wiring diagrams, and verify correct installation and operation. • Inspect, repair, and replace gear boxes, bearings, seals, mechanical drives, and power transmission components. • Service and troubleshoot water pumps and gear pumps, including seals and priming methods. • Align motor couplings, sprockets, and pulleys to ensure smooth mechanical operation. • Work with taper locks, drive chains, and chain breaks, and adjust or replace chains and links as required. • Test fuses and other protective devices to identify faults and restore equipment functionality. • Read and interpret electrical and mechanical prints and blueprints for installation, troubleshooting, and repair work. • Perform basic pipefitting tasks, including gluing PVC, sweating copper, and working with drain lines. • Support the operation and maintenance of heat exchangers and related systems. • Troubleshoot and work within control panels, including rewiring, diagnosing issues, and working with disconnects, relays, and limit switches. • Read ladder logic and use meters to diagnose control system and PLC-related issues. • Differentiate between incremental and absolute encoders and apply this knowledge in troubleshooting and repair. • Participate in hands-on testing and problem-solving exercises involving electrical panels with multiple components, relays, and limit switches. • Respond to simple and complex electrical issues, such as determining why indicator lights are not functioning, and systematically work through the steps to resolve them. Essential Skills

• Industrial maintenance experience with both mechanical and electrical systems in a manufacturing environment. • Strong electrical troubleshooting skills, including comfort with variable frequency drives (VFDs). • Ability to troubleshoot 480V three-phase motors safely and effectively. • Proficiency in voltage reading and use of a voltmeter for diagnostic purposes. • Experience operating and troubleshooting within electrical control panels, including rewiring, working with disconnects, relays, and limit switches. • Ability to read and interpret ladder logic diagrams and use electrical meters for diagnostics. • Understanding of voltage, current, and resistance, including AC and DC voltage concepts. • Capability to change motors and read wiring diagrams accurately. • Knowledge of gear boxes, bearings, seals, mechanical drives, and power transmission systems. • Experience working with water pumps and gear pumps, including seals and priming procedures. • Skill in aligning motor couplings, sprockets, and pulleys. • Ability to work with taper locks, drive chains, chain breaks, and different chain links. • Competence in testing fuses and other electrical protection devices. • Ability to read electrical and mechanical prints and blueprints. • Basic pipefitting skills, including gluing PVC, sweating copper, and working with drain lines. • Understanding of heat exchanger operation. • Knowledge of the difference between incremental and absolute encoders. • Experience with relay logic and PLC troubleshooting. • Comfort working in a plastics manufacturing and extrusion environment. • Ability to perform welding and electrical maintenance tasks as required. • Willingness and ability to complete a hands-on electrical panel test involving multiple components, relays, and limit switches. • Ability to clearly answer technical troubleshooting questions related to VFDs, three-phase systems, encoders, and DC contacts. Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in plastics manufacturing or plastics extrusion is highly beneficial. • Background in hydraulic and pneumatic systems is advantageous. • Familiarity with CMMS systems for tracking work orders, hours, and inventory. • Comfort working with 208V three-phase systems and understanding expected voltage readings to ground. • Ability to communicate clearly about troubleshooting steps and reasoning when diagnosing electrical and mechanical issues. • Strong attention to safety and adherence to safe work practices around high-voltage equipment and moving machinery. • Solid problem-solving skills and a methodical approach to diagnosing equipment failures. • Interest in supporting growth within a manufacturing operation that is expanding over the next decade. Shifts follow a 2-2-3 schedule, with available options on first shift (6:00 AM to 6:00 PM) and third shift (6:00 PM to 6:00 AM), both focused on electrical maintenance responsibilities. The environment is production-oriented, with a balance of hands-on troubleshooting, repair work, and system monitoring throughout the shift.
