Job Title: Pipe Welder/FitterJob DescriptionThis role focuses on installing, assembling, and maintaining commercial and industrial piping systems, including both highpressure and lowpressure lines. The pipe welder/fitter reads and interprets technical documentation, fabricates and installs piping in a variety of materials, and ensures systems operate safely and efficiently. The position requires strong mechanical aptitude, advanced welding and fitting skills, and a commitment to safety and quality standards on construction and renovation projects.Responsibilities
• Install, assemble, and maintain commercial and industrial piping systems, including highpressure and lowpressure lines. • Install, maintain, and repair highpressure industrial piping systems that transport chemicals, steam, oil, oil products, and gases. • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and P&IDs to determine pipe layout, routing, and project specifications. • Cut, weld, thread, bend, and fabricate pipe using materials such as carbon steel, stainless steel, copper, cast iron, and PVC. • Perform pipe fitting and installation of piping systems, ensuring proper alignment, support, and secure connections. • Install valves, supports, hangers, and related components to ensure proper system functionality and structural integrity. • Test piping systems for leaks and integrity using pressure gauges, hydrostatic testing, and other diagnostic equipment. • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on piping systems to support longterm performance, reliability, and safety. • Apply mechanical skills such as cutting metal, brazing, and soldering to complete fabrication and repair tasks. • Work collaboratively with other trades, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general contractors, on construction and renovation projects. • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, jobsite safety protocols, and relevant industry standards at all times. • Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, materials used, system specifications, and test results. • Demonstrate welding proficiency and maintain the ability to pass a 6G weld test as required by project standards. Essential Skills
• Proven experience in pipe fitting and pipe installation for commercial and industrial piping systems. • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and P&IDs to determine pipe layout and specifications. • Advanced pipe welding skills, including proficiency with carbon steel and stainless steel piping. • Experience cutting, threading, bending, and fabricating pipe using mechanical tools and equipment. • Ability to work with multiple piping materials, including carbon steel, stainless steel, stainless pipe, copper, cast iron, and PVC. • Demonstrated ability to pass a 6G weld test. • Handson experience with brazing and soldering for piping and mechanical applications. • Knowledge of industrial piping systems and construction environments, including highpressure applications. • Strong understanding of OSHA regulations, safety protocols, and industry standards for piping and welding work. • Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform precise cutting, fitting, and welding tasks. • Attention to detail in documenting work performed, materials used, and system specifications. • Experience working in fastpaced construction or industrial environments. • Knowledge collaborating with HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general contracting teams. • Comfort using diagnostic equipment such as pressure gauges and tools for hydrostatic testing. • Interest in ongoing training and development in plumbing, HVAC, sheet metal, or electrical trades. • Ability to adapt to changing project requirements while maintaining safety and quality. • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a teamoriented environment. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Knoxville, TN. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $27.00 - $35.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
