Job Title: Welder and Fabricator Job DescriptionThis role focuses on welding and fabricating a variety of steel materials using multiple welding processes in a custom weld shop environment. You will perform high-quality MIG and flux core welding, work from blueprints, and use precision measuring tools to ensure accurate fabrication of components.Responsibilities
• Perform MIG and flux core welding on steel with a high level of quality and consistency. • Carry out stick welding operations as required for various projects. • Fabricate components using different types of steel, including aluminum, hot rolled, and cold rolled materials. • Execute out-of-position welding, including overhead, vertical, and horizontal welds. • Read and interpret blueprints to understand project requirements and fabrication details. • Use tape measures, gauges, squares, and other measuring tools to ensure accurate dimensions and alignment. • Fit and assemble welded and fabricated parts according to specifications. • Operate basic fabrication equipment such as grinding tools and press brakes as needed. • Inspect completed welds and fabricated parts for quality, accuracy, and adherence to project specifications. • Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow shop safety procedures at all times. • Use appropriate hand tools to prepare materials, perform assembly work, and finish welded components. Essential Skills
• Proven ability to perform MIG welding on steel with consistent quality. • Strong flux core welding skills on steel materials. • Experience with stick welding in a fabrication or shop environment. • Ability to perform out-of-position welding, including overhead, vertical, and horizontal welds. • Proficiency in welding and fabricating various types of steel, such as aluminum, hot rolled, and cold rolled. • Ability to read and interpret blueprints for welding and fabrication projects. • Skilled use of measuring tools including tape measures, gauges, squares, and similar instruments for accurate layout and fitting. • Hands-on experience with fabrication, fitting, assembly, and grinding work. • Competence in using common hand tools in a welding and fabrication setting. Additional Skills & Qualifications
• Previous experience working in a custom weld shop environment. • TIG welding experience is a major plus, but not required. • Ability to use or learn press brake operations for forming metal components. • Own tools required for the role, including a locking toolbox, cold chisel, 1 1/2" scraper, 3" scraper, mini sledge hammer, chipping hammer, needle nose or TIG pliers, welding hood, file set, tape measure, and flashlight. You will work around steel materials and welding processes, requiring appropriate personal protective equipment such as a welding hood and safety gear. The role is physically active, with time spent standing, moving materials, and operating tools and machinery in a production-focused setting. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of New Albany, IN. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.00 - $24.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
