Job Title: General LaborerJob DescriptionThis role supports the full construction of residential units, including framing and finishing walls, building and installing roofs, completing tape and texture work, and performing quality assurance checks throughout all phases of construction. You will work hands-on with a variety of construction materials and tools to help deliver safe, attractive, and well-built homes from start to finish. Responsibilities • Frame interior and exterior walls according to construction specifications. • Install insulation in designated areas where necessary to meet building standards. • Glue and staple drywall securely in place and lift panels from the table to install them on the floor structure. • Set cabinets in place and ensure proper alignment and secure installation. • Hook up all plumbing associated with the unit, ensuring connections are safe and functional. • Cut and press roof trusses to required dimensions and layouts. • Lay out drywall on tables in preparation for roof assembly. • Load rafters and roof components together and prepare assemblies for installation. • Apply alpha seal to trusses and drywall to ensure a secure and weather-resistant bond. • Use a crane to lift roof assemblies and move them to the pit or designated installation area. • Mud seams and apply vapor barriers to protect the structure from moisture. • Lift and set roofs onto roof decking and roofing paper safely and accurately. • Install windows and doors, ensuring proper fit, sealing, and operation. • Trim windows, doors, corners, soffits, fascia, and other exterior details to meet quality standards. • Install shingles and roof vents, following roofing best practices and safety guidelines. • Paint the exterior of the house to required finish standards. • Tape and mud all corners and joints on interior walls and ceilings. • Cover cabinets, doors, appliances, and other surfaces with plastic prior to spraying texture or paint. • Spray texture on interior walls and ensure a consistent and clean finish. • Paint the interior of the house, including walls and ceilings, as specified. • Clean up work areas regularly to maintain a safe and organized environment. • Inspect the house during all phases of construction to identify and correct issues. • Monitor quality processes and ensure construction meets internal standards and specifications. • Inspect the home at the end of construction and load any ship-loose material needed for delivery. • Attach all required tags and labels to the unit prior to completion. • Complete all necessary paperwork accurately and submit it to the front office. • Measure the width and height of units using a tape measure and document measurements as needed. Essential Skills • Minimum experience using a tape measure with the ability to measure accurately and consistently. • Ability to use power tools safely and effectively in a construction environment. • Proficiency with hand tools commonly used in construction and carpentry work. • Basic construction knowledge, including framing, installation, and finishing tasks. • Carpentry skills for wall framing, trim work, and cabinet installation. • Experience working with drywall, including hanging, gluing, stapling, taping, and mudding. • Ability to perform concrete-related tasks as needed in the construction process. • Painting skills for both interior and exterior surfaces. • Experience using tape guns and other application tools for drywall and finishing work. • Trim carpentry skills for installing and finishing windows, doors, corners, soffits, and fascia. • Familiarity with wall panel installation and alignment. • Roofing experience, including working with trusses, decking, roofing paper, shingles, and vents. • Ability to apply texture and mud to walls and ceilings to achieve a clean finish. • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality throughout all phases of construction. • Ability to read measurements and use a tape measure test as part of the hiring and onboarding process. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Comfort working in a manufacturing-style construction environment with multiple phases of production. • Willingness to cross-train in different areas of construction, such as walls, roofs, tape and texture, and quality assurance. • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and complete required paperwork accurately. • Strong work ethic and reliability in meeting productivity and quality expectations. • Basic understanding of safety practices in construction and manufacturing settings. • Interest in learning new skills and advancing into additional responsibilities over time. Work EnvironmentThe current manufacturing site is fully shaded but can be dusty, dirty, and hot, reflecting an active construction and production environment. Work involves handling construction materials, using power and hand tools, and moving between different phases of the build process. Around April 2027, operations will move to a new manufacturing facility in El Mirage that will be climate controlled, providing a more comfortable and consistent temperature for daily work. The setting is production-oriented, with a focus on safety, quality, and efficiency throughout the construction process. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Goodyear, AZ. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
