Job Title: General Production WorkerJob DescriptionThis role serves as a general production team member supporting either metals or non-metals operations in a warehouse and industrial environment. You contribute to daily production activities such as material handling, machine operation, and general labor tasks that support scrap metal processing and related workflows. The position may involve working at an on-site facility or at a nearby support location, depending on assignment. Responsibilities • Perform general production tasks in either metals or non-metals operations, following established procedures and safety guidelines. • Operate material handling equipment such as tuggers and forklifts to move scrap metal and other materials safely and efficiently. • Pick and pack orders accurately, ensuring correct quantities, labeling, and staging for further processing or transport. • Assist with basic machine operation, including starting, stopping, monitoring, and adjusting equipment as directed. • Use hand tools and power tools to complete assigned tasks such as assembly, disassembly, or minor adjustments to materials or components. • Carry out assembly work as needed, following simple instructions, diagrams, or blueprints to ensure correct and consistent results. • Inspect materials and work areas for quality, safety, and cleanliness, reporting any issues to supervisors promptly. • Perform heavy lifting and manual material handling when required, using proper lifting techniques and equipment. • Maintain a clean and organized work area by sweeping, removing debris, and keeping tools and equipment stored properly. • Follow all safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to facility rules and procedures. • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals, support workflow, and respond to changing priorities. • Participate in on-site interviews and any required pre-employment screenings as part of the hiring process. Essential Skills • Experience in production or general labor work, including tasks such as assembly, picking and packing, and material handling. • Ability to perform heavy lifting and repetitive physical tasks safely throughout the shift. • Basic proficiency in operating material handling equipment such as tuggers and forklifts, or willingness to learn. • Comfort using hand tools and power tools in a warehouse or industrial setting. • Ability to operate or assist with machine operation under guidance, following instructions and safety procedures. • Experience or familiarity with inspection tasks to check materials or work for quality and accuracy. • Capability to work in a warehouse environment with varying tasks, including cleaning and organizing work areas. • Ability to read and follow simple instructions and, where applicable, basic blueprints or diagrams. • Reliable attendance and punctuality for assigned shifts, including overtime as needed. • Willingness to complete any required pre-employment screenings. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Prior experience in general production, assembly, or warehouse operations. • Comfort working in a handyman-style role that involves a variety of tasks such as operating equipment, assembling, cleaning, and general labor. • Experience with scrap metal handling or recycling operations is a plus. • Ability to adapt to changing tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment. • Strong attention to safety and quality in all aspects of work. • Good communication skills to coordinate with team members and supervisors. • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately. Work EnvironmentThe position is based in a warehouse and industrial setting that supports scrap metal processing rather than manufacturing. Work may take place at an on-site facility or at a nearby support location, with tasks performed in and around production areas. Team members typically work on 1st shift from 7:00 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. or 2nd shift from 7:00 p.m. to 3:45 a.m., with regular daily overtime expected. The environment involves operating tuggers, forklifts, and other material handling equipment, using hand tools and power tools, and performing machine operation and inspection tasks. Heavy lifting and physical labor are common, and employees are expected to maintain clean and orderly workspaces. Appropriate work attire suitable for a warehouse and industrial setting is required, including clothing and footwear that support safety and comfort during physical tasks. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Huntsville, AL. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.95/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
