Why This Project Matters Youll be part of a team directly supporting U.S. Navy fleet readiness, corrosion control, and longterm ship preservation work that keeps vessels operational and missionready.Marine Painter Helper / General Laborer Location: Naval Station Everett, WAPay: $24.00/hourSchedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PMProject Length: 6 Weeks (Starting October 5th) Job Overview We are hiring Marine Painter Helpers / General Laborers to support surface preparation and preservation work aboard docked U.S. Navy vessels at Naval Station Everett. This is a hands-on labor position focused primarily on preparing metal surfaces for marine painters through grinding, chipping, needle gunning, cleaning, and other surface prep activities.Candidates who successfully complete this project may have the opportunity to transition into a long-term shipyard assignment beginning in November that is expected to last approximately 1.5 years. Responsibilities
• Prepare metal surfaces for painting using grinders, needle guns, chipping hammers, wire wheels, and other hand and power tools • Remove rust, scale, old paint, and contaminants from steel and metal surfaces • Assist marine painters with masking, taping, material handling, paint mixing, and preparation tasks • Perform brush and roller painting as directed • Transport tools, equipment, materials, and supplies throughout the shipyard and aboard vessels • Set up and break down work areas, containment systems, and equipment • Perform general cleanup and housekeeping to maintain safe and organized workspaces • Follow all safety requirements, shipyard procedures, and Navy regulations • Work aboard ships, piers, and industrial marine facilities Work Environment
• Outdoor work in all weather conditions • Frequent climbing of ladders, stairways, and ship access points • Regular bending, kneeling, crawling, and working in tight spaces • Required use of respirators, hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, and other PPE • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds throughout the workday • Exposure to industrial shipyard and marine environments Minimum Qualifications
• Experience using hand tools and power tools • Previous brush and roller painting experience • Ability to perform physically demanding work throughout an entire shift • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions • Ability to wear a respirator and required safety equipment • Reliable transportation and strong attendance record • Shipyard, construction, manufacturing, painting, or general labor experience is a plus Security Requirements
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain access to Naval Station Everett • Must be able to successfully obtain a DBIDS (Defense Biometric Identification System) badge • Must be able to meet all federal installation access requirements Why Apply?

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.
