Job Title: Production LaborJob DescriptionThis role operates molds, presses, and calendering equipment to produce first article and regular production parts in a timely and consistent manner with minimal supervision. You work from written procedures, production orders, blueprints, and material specifications, recognizing and addressing deviations from accepted practices. Success in this position requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with co-workers in a team-oriented manufacturing environment.Responsibilities
• Set up, operate, and monitor calendering equipment to produce sheet, roll, or layered materials to exact specifications. • Routinely use molds and presses in the production process to create first article and regular production parts. • Operate press machines to create parts using molds according to documented procedures. • Monitor material flow to ensure uniformity, smoothness, and absence of defects during production. • Inspect materials and parts using calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, scales, and other precision instruments. • Measure stock to confirm correct thickness and length before and during production. • Place a variety of materials by hand into molds, on mandrels, or into build fixtures as required by the job. • Weigh stock and scrap to track material usage and salvageable material. • Perform routine machine maintenance, cleaning, and roll changes to keep equipment in proper working condition. • Read and interpret production orders, blueprints, and material specifications to ensure correct setup and output. • Document production data, including thickness readings, lot numbers, and quality checks, in accordance with company and ISO standards. • Use hand tools and production equipment regularly to fabricate parts and verify measurements. • Monitor individual production for bad parts to enable early defect detection and corrective action. • Clean and prime parts with appropriate chemicals and solutions following established procedures. • Ensure materials handling and recordkeeping are completed accurately and on time. • Collaborate with quality inspectors and production supervisors to resolve material or quality issues. • Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout practices and required use of personal protective equipment (PPE). • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area, including setup at the start of the shift and cleanup at the end. • Work effectively within a team environment, communicating clearly with leads, planners, supervisors, and co-workers. • Perform other production-related duties as assigned by leadership. Essential Skills
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds safely and repeatedly during the shift. • Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately for production measurements. • Mechanical aptitude with experience in a production line or manufacturing environment. • Proficiency in using hand tools to fabricate parts and perform basic adjustments. • Skilled in the use of precision measuring tools, including calipers, depth gauges, micrometers, and scales. • Strong hand dexterity for handling materials, operating equipment, and performing detailed tasks. • Attention to detail to identify defects, verify measurements, and maintain material quality and consistency. • Ability to work with minimal supervision while following written procedures and production orders. • Capability to recognize deviations from accepted practices and escalate or correct issues as needed. • Commitment to following safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and PPE requirements, at all times. Additional Skills & Qualifications
• Experience with injection molding or similar molding operations, including weekend injection molding assignments. • Prior experience operating calendering equipment or similar material processing machinery. • Experience in manufacturing or production environments, particularly with sheet, roll, or layered materials. • Familiarity with ISO standards and documentation practices for materials handling and quality records. • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, material specifications, and detailed work instructions. • Combination of relevant education and practical experience considered in lieu of specific formal education requirements. • Comfort working with industrial chemicals, solvents, and cleaning solutions in accordance with safety guidelines. You work around calendering machines, presses, molds, and a variety of hand and precision tools, including calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, tape measures, and scales. The work involves standing, lifting up to 30 pounds, and performing repetitive manual tasks throughout the shift. Environmental conditions can vary and may include temperature instability and exposure to atmospheric conditions such as fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, vapors, solvents, and other industrial chemicals. You are expected to follow all safety procedures, use appropriate personal protective equipment, and maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area from shift start to shift end. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mcminnville, OR. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.30 - $22.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
