Job Title: Forklift OperatorJob DescriptionThe Forklift Operator plays a key role in supporting nightly shipping and receiving operations by safely loading and unloading trucks, moving materials throughout the facility, and preparing customer orders. This position includes order picking, feedstock staging, learning and operating an overhead crane, and providing support to the Lead to ensure efficient and accurate fulfillment of finished goods. Responsibilities • Assist with loading and unloading up to three trucks per night in a safe and efficient manner. • Pick and stage feedstock for fulfillment orders according to customer specifications. • Break down bulk bundles into customer-specific orders while maintaining accuracy and quality standards. • Package materials to meet customer requirements, including proper labeling and preparation for shipment. • Operate sit-down and side loader forklifts to move, stack, and organize materials as needed throughout the facility. • Use pallet jacks, reach trucks, and stand-up forklifts as required to support material handling activities. • Complete all shipping and receiving paperwork accurately and confirm SAP work orders using a computer. • Maintain maximum productivity in the creation of finished goods while adhering to safety and quality guidelines. • Support inventory control by handling materials carefully and following established procedures. • Assist the Lead with daily operational tasks and collaborate with team members to meet production and shipping goals. • Learn and, when needed, operate an overhead crane to move materials safely (training provided if needed). • Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of PPE and adherence to facility rules and regulations. • Perform other duties as assigned, understanding that responsibilities and activities may change at any time with or without notice. Essential Skills • Minimum of 2 years of experience operating forklifts, including sit-down forklifts. • At least 1 year of experience operating side loader forklifts. • Experience with stand-up forklifts and reach trucks for material handling. • Background in shipping and receiving, order picking, and production or inventory support. • Proficiency in material handling, packing, and pallet jack operation. • Basic math skills to verify counts, measurements, and order quantities. • Basic computer skills and comfort using a computer for SAP work order confirmation and documentation. • Ability to maintain regular attendance and reliability for 3rd shift hours. • Physical ability to meet vision, hearing, and mobility requirements and to pass a physical requirements exam. • Capability to lift up to 50 pounds independently and to use team lifts or equipment for heavier loads. • Understanding of safe work practices in a warehouse or production environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Minimum of 1 year of similar job experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or distribution environment preferred. • At least 6 months of experience operating an overhead crane is preferred but not required; willingness to learn is valued. • Experience working with SAP or similar ERP systems for shipping, receiving, and inventory is beneficial. • Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate order picking, packaging, and paperwork completion. • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities. • Good communication skills to coordinate with the Lead and team members. • Commitment to following safety procedures and using required personal protective equipment. • Comfort working on a consistent overnight schedule (3rd shift). Work EnvironmentThis is a 3rd shift position with hours from 00:30 to 09:00, working in a warehouse or production setting focused on shipping, receiving, and finished goods creation. You will regularly use sit-down and side loader forklifts, pallet jacks, reach trucks, and stand-up forklifts, and may learn to operate an overhead crane. The role involves frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds, with team lifts or equipment used for heavier items. The dress code requires jeans and a proper work T-shirt with no offensive logos. Steel toe boots are required, and a hard hat, gloves, and cut-resistant sleeves are provided as part of the required personal protective equipment. The environment emphasizes safety, productivity, and teamwork while maintaining clear procedures and standards for material handling and order fulfillment. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of OMAHA, NE. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr.
