Job Title: Chemical Process OperatorJob DescriptionJoin our team as a Chemical Process Operator, where you will tend to equipment and semiautomatic processes for chemical substances in industrial or consumer products. You will work in a small chemical packaging site, managing equipment and materials to ensure smooth operations. Responsibilities • Follow batch sheets and recipes for chemical formulations, lifting up to 50 lbs repetitively. • Inspect work areas and equipment for leaks or malfunctions, shutting down equipment and notifying maintenance or engineering as necessary. • Operate sit-down forklifts to move materials or bring barrels, drums, vials, or totes to the equipment for down packing and chemical processing. • Learn product labeling, use computer software to enter and verify product content, volume, and usage, and provide information for chemical mixing. • Weigh and measure various quantities of solids, powders, and liquids into heating vessels or blending tanks, and work with valves, pressure, and gaseous material monitoring. • Maintain mechanical and electronic systems related to vacuum levels, observe chemical reactions, and monitor gauges, signals, and recorders. Essential Skills • Forklift operation with proven experience in small spaces. • Production and material handling. • Mechanical aptitude. • Weights and measurements, compounding, blending, mixing, batching, and batch making. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Ability to work in an inherently dirty and hot environment, with uniforms provided. • Excellent depth perception for accurate forklift operation. • Experience with rf scanner and machine operating. Work EnvironmentSecond shift roles from 3:30pm to 12:30am, overlapping 30 minutes with the day shift for knowledge transfer. Work in a small chemical processing plant with a warehouse about a mile away for storage. The environment is physical and dirty, but uniforms are provided. You'll work with large Kitchen-aid type mixers and mechanical equipment, focusing on smaller scale operations with chemical bags, totes, and drums. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Richmond, VA. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.50 - $22.50/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
