Job Title: NDT InspectorJob DescriptionThe NDT Inspector performs ultrasonic thickness, X-ray (digital radiography), and fluorescent penetrant nondestructive testing (NDT) inspections on aircraft engine turbine components, with a focus on engine blades. This role involves processing development, production, and overhaul/repair engine parts using established procedures, operating specialized NDT equipment, and supporting certified Level II inspectors in identifying and documenting non-conformances.Responsibilities
• Perform metallurgical inspection processing on a wide variety of development, production, and overhaul/repair engine parts, particularly aircraft engine turbine blades. • Conduct nondestructive tests using fluorescent penetrant, ultrasonic thickness, and X-ray (digital radiology) methods to evaluate part integrity. • Work from detailed procedures, technique sheets, verbal instructions, and other pertinent documentation to process parts for nondestructive testing and complete all required record keeping accurately. • Set up and operate NDT equipment, including ultrasonic thickness, digital radiography, and fluorescent penetrant systems, ensuring proper configuration for each inspection. • Check and adjust equipment settings and test process media as needed to maintain valid and reliable test results. • Identify recurring processing problems, analyze potential causes, and recommend changes in methods or equipment to eliminate or minimize issues. • Recognize when NDT equipment or related processing tools require repair or replacement and promptly report or escalate these needs. • Collaborate with and assist certified Level II inspectors, supporting the identification and disposition of non-conformances and preparing for advancement to higher-level NDT certification. • Perform routine servicing and upkeep throughout the assigned area by following specified procedures and written instructions, such as inspector checklists. • Monitor equipment performance and condition to ensure proper operation and consistent inspection quality. • Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-conscious work area in accordance with facility standards and industry best practices. Essential Skills
• Hands-on experience performing ultrasonic thickness inspections, including at least 50 hours of certifiable on-the-job training. • Experience conducting digital radiography (X-ray) inspections, including at least 800 hours of certifiable on-the-job training. • Experience performing fluorescent penetrant inspections, with at least 400 hours of certifiable on-the-job training across fluorescent penetrant and digital radiology methods. • Nondestructive testing (NDT) with practical experience in inspection and evaluation of components. • Ability to operate and adjust ultrasonic, X-ray, and fluorescent penetrant equipment to obtain valid and repeatable test results. • Capability to follow detailed procedures, technique sheets, and written instructions with high attention to detail and accuracy. • Strong record-keeping skills, including accurate documentation of inspection results, process steps, and equipment settings. • Understanding of NDT Level II practices and willingness to work closely with certified Level II inspectors to identify and disposition non-conformances. • High school diploma or equivalent education. • Ability to identify processing problems and contribute to process improvement recommendations. Additional Skills & Qualifications
• NDT certifications aligned with industry standards such as ASNT or NAS 410 (AST or NAS 410 certifications). • Experience in aerospace NDT inspection is highly desirable, particularly with turbine engine components and blades. • Relevant NDT experience from other industries such as oil and gas, pipeline, automotive, or nuclear is valued. • Familiarity with digital radiology systems and associated software for image review and analysis. • Basic understanding of metallurgical principles related to engine parts and turbine components. • Ability to work effectively in a technical, procedure-driven environment and collaborate with inspection teams. • Strong problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset for methods and equipment. • Comfort working in a climate-controlled, high-technology manufacturing or repair facility. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Grand Prairie, TX. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $26.00 - $30.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
