Job Title: Remote Bookkeeper

About the Role:
A reliable and detail-oriented Bookkeeper is needed to support day-to-day bookkeeping, financial record keeping, and accounting-related customer support.
The role will primarily focus on routine bookkeeping and financial administration within the company's proprietary customs brokerage software, which integrates with QuickBooks. The Bookkeeper will be responsible for accurately recording financial transactions, maintaining financial records, reviewing reports, and supporting basic accounting-related communication with clients.
The role may also expand into financial reporting, analysis, and forecasting depending on the candidate's experience and the needs of the business.
The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, dependable, comfortable learning proprietary software, and capable of handling financial information confidentially. Experience with QuickBooks is helpful, but the ability to learn the client's internal software and processes is equally important.
Key Responsibilities:
Bookkeeping & Accounting
• Perform day-to-day bookkeeping and maintain accurate financial records.
• Record and categorize financial transactions in the company's accounting system.
• Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payment tracking, and reconciliations.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies in financial records.
• Support recurring and month-end bookkeeping activities.
Financial Reporting & Analysis
• Review balance sheets, P&L statements, and other financial reports generated by the company's software.
• Prepare basic financial summaries and assist with identifying discrepancies or trends.
• Support cash flow analysis and financial forecasting when applicable.
• Help improve and streamline recurring financial processes.
Client & Administrative Support
• Respond to routine client emails related to payments and accounting matters.
• Confirm receipt of payments and provide basic accounting-related updates.
• Maintain organized financial documentation and records.
• Escalate complex accounting questions to the appropriate accounting team member or management.
Systems & Collaboration
• Learn and work within the company's proprietary customs brokerage software.
• Coordinate with the internal accounting and operations teams to ensure accurate and timely records.
• Use tools such as Microsoft Outlook and ClickUp as needed.
Qualifications & Ideal Traits:
Must-Have
• Previous experience as a Bookkeeper, Accounting Assistant, Accounting Specialist, or similar role.
• Strong understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles.
• Experience with financial records, reconciliations, and transaction recording.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good written English communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
• Comfortable learning proprietary software and new processes.
Preferred
• Experience with QuickBooks Online or similar accounting platforms.
• Experience reviewing P&L statements and balance sheets.
• Background in logistics, customs brokerage, transportation, or professional services.
• Experience with financial analysis, cash flow, or forecasting.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365, ClickUp, and AI tools.
Working Environment:
• Fully remote
• Full-time position, approximately 40 hours per week
• Schedule aligned with the client's U.S. business hours
• Training provided on the company's proprietary software and bookkeeping processes
• Opportunity to expand into financial analysis, forecasting, and additional responsibilities based on experience
