Who we need As the Actuary, Experience Studies and Special Projects , you will play a key role within our Valuation team, combining actuarial expertise, strategic thinking, and innovation to drive meaningful business impact. We are looking for a curious, analytical, and forward-thinking professional who thrives on transforming complex data into actionable insights and influencing important business decisions. In this role, you will lead actuarial experience studies, analyzing historical experience, industry trends, and financial results to develop well-supported assumptions that contribute to valuation, capital management, and financial reporting. Leveraging a deep understanding of product design and policyholder characteristics, you will develop robust analyses and meaningful insights, communicating recommendations and findings to the Appointed Actuary and Chief Actuary. You will also lead strategic projects spanning modeling accuracy, operational efficiency, and business analysis, helping evolve how our actuarial function supports the broader organization. The base salary range for this position is between $85,000 to $115,000 depending on experience. Details of our additional benefits are outlined below. This job posting is for an existing vacancy. Only one position is available. However, it may be based in multiple locations: Toronto (ON), or Waterloo (ON), Montreal (QC), or Burnaby (BC). Lead experience study production with high degree of technical acuity and generation of business insights. Lead the investigation, problem solving, solutioning and implementation of various projects as needed to enhance the function of the business. Present recommendations and results to Appointed Actuary and Chief Actuary. Seek innovative solutions to bring greater efficiency, accuracy and insights to business performance. Manage issue log and approximation list reviews and resolutions. Work closely with analysts and valuation Director to manage and complete tasks in the required timelines.
