Accounting Technician (One Year Only)
Summary: Performs paraprofessional work in auditing, accounting, budgeting, grants processing, or general financial area.
Qualifications: Required
• Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or possession of a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) certificate. • Three (3) years of experience in the specialized field, some of which shall be at a level requiring independent judgement. • Advanced degree(s) beyond the minimum degree requirement in a relevant field may be considered for some experience.
• Knowledge of practices, procedures, and policies of the assigned office. • Ability to work with a high degree of independence. • Ability to operate a personal computer and related equipment to process, develop, analyze, and create data.
Major Duties/Essential Functions: • Provides general assistance in an auditing or financial unit of a department or office. • Relieves auditor, senior manager, or analysts/ specialists of routine and repetitive technical tasks. • Reviews, processes and reconciles documents and forms ensuring accuracy. • Produces reports, performs analysis, and determines and/or resolves discrepancies. • Maintains records of related business transactions; gathers, tabulates, and categorizes data for reports utilizes available computer technology to accomplish tasks. • May complete related administrative and financial duties and maintain multiple databases. • Assists in the field of auditing, budgeting, accounting, and/or grants processing. • Performs related duties as required or assigned.
Work Environment/Physical Requirements: This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
