Position Responsibilities: About the Role Join our engineering team to help build Deltek’s desktop-based Project Portfolio Management platform. As a Software Engineer, you will contribute to real customer outcomes while building foundational experience in modern software engineering and AI-first development. This role is designed for a graduate developer who is ready to learn quickly, work with experienced engineers, and use tools like Claude Code as part of a fully agentic development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
• Contribute to the development and evolution of enterprise software solutions • Build and enhance APIs, user experiences, backend services, databases, automation, and business workflows • Work with a variety of technologies, architectures, and deployment models supporting enterprise software solutions, including desktop, client/server, n-tier, on-premises, SaaS, and cloud-based environments • Use AI-assisted engineering tools to plan, implement, test, review, and improve software • Participate in code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and quality-focused engineering practices • Collaborate with product, UX, QA, and engineering teams to understand customer problems and deliver practical outcomes • Explore AI-driven capabilities such as automation, intelligent insights, copilots, agentic workflows, natural language interfaces, and related emerging technologies
Qualifications: What We’re Looking For
• Recently completed or soon to complete a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field • Familiarity with one or more object-oriented programming languages such as .NET, Java, JavaScript, or similar technologies • Foundational understanding of software architecture, APIs, databases, and enterprise application development concepts • Strong problem-solving skills, curiosity, and willingness to learn through hands-on delivery • Interest in enterprise software platforms, modern application architectures, and AI-driven development • Basic experience using GenAI or AI-assisted development tools to support coding, testing, debugging, documentation, or design activities • Interest in using an AI development lifecycle to turn customer problems into working software outcomes • Learning Mindset: Eagerness to learn new technologies, frameworks, architectures, and AI-enabled engineering practices quickly AI-First Mindset: This role requires embracing an AI-first approach where GenAI and agentic AI tools are essential collaborators, not optional supplements. You will use Claude Code as part of a fully agentic development lifecycle that supports planning, implementation, testing, review, documentation, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate is interested in building customer outcomes with AI-enabled development practices. You should have basic hands-on experience using GenAI tools to explore requirements, generate or improve code, test ideas, troubleshoot issues, or accelerate learning. You do not need to be an AI expert, but you should be curious, thoughtful, and ready to learn how agentic workflows can improve software delivery. We are looking for someone who approaches feature development by asking: "What customer problem are we solving, and how can AI help us deliver a better outcome faster and more responsibly?" This includes being comfortable with rapid AI tool evolution, willing to experiment with new development workflows, and committed to validating AI-generated work through strong engineering judgment. We value developers who see AI as a productivity multiplier and learning accelerator, not a replacement for engineering fundamentals, collaboration, customer empathy, quality, security, or maintainable design.
Compensation Info: The U.S. hourly range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00. This range is subject to change as Deltek takes a number of factors into consideration when determining individual base pay, such as location, job-related knowledge, skills and experience. Certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including incentive compensation and equity.
