Principal, Head of Advice & Planning
Opportunity Overview: Edward Jones is seeking a visionary leader to help shape the future of advice. As Head of Advice and Planning, you will lead one of the most ambitious transformations in financial services: reimagining how advice is delivered in a world where client expectations are rapidly evolving and where artificial intelligence and advisor intelligence are increasingly converging. This role will define the next generation of advice, helping clients achieve greater financial fulfillment through advice that reflects not only their finances, but also their unique goals, values, circumstances, and life ambitions. With more than 9 million clients, 20,000+ financial advisors, and $2.4 trillion in client assets, Edward Jones is uniquely positioned to set a new standard for personalized advice at scale. Key Responsibilities • Develop and execute a long-term vision for the future of advice and planning across Edward Jones. • Design an innovative, scalable advice framework that integrates financial planning, behavioral coaching, life models, technology, and emerging AI capabilities. • Reimagine how advisors deliver value to clients, moving beyond transactions and portfolio management toward holistic counseling and guidance. • Create advisor support models including tools, frameworks, and other resources that enable more than 20,000 financial advisors to consistently deliver a differentiated client experience. • Lead the development of advisor capabilities through training, education, coaching, and professional development programs. • Partner across business, technology, data, and product teams to build new advice solutions and experiences that enhance client outcomes. • Identify and incorporate leading practices from wealth management, financial planning, behavioral finance, consulting, technology, and artificial intelligence. • Drive innovation that strengthens advisor productivity, client engagement, and long-term growth while deepening the firm's client relationships. Candidate Profile, Talent, Skills & Abilities: The successful candidate will possess extraordinary ambition, creativity, and the ability to build something that has never existed before. The individual may come from a distinguished background in wealth management, financial planning, consulting, technology, artificial intelligence, or a related field, but must demonstrate an exceptional ability to translate vision into scalable enterprise impact. This leader will be: • A can-do business operator with a results-oriented mindset and a proven track record of success. • An entrepreneurial leader willing to start new businesses from the ground up. • An innovator with outstanding creativity, capable of combining human expertise with technology-enabled solutions. • A champion of client-centered advice who believes financial advisors can serve as trusted counselors, coaches, and guides holistically throughout clients' lives • A strategic thinker with a passion for transforming how advice is delivered. • A respected educator and influencer who can inspire advisors with varying levels of experience and capability. • A builder who thrives in ambiguity and is energized by creating new capabilities, processes, and business models. Has experience translating strategy into execution.
Position Requirements: • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred. • 15+ years of executive leadership experience with a track record of enterprise transformation and business growth. • Experience building, scaling, or transforming advisory, professional services, technology, or client-centric business models. • Demonstrated ability to influence industry direction, drive organizational change, and deliver measurable impact at scale

Salary Information: Edward Jones' compensation and benefits package includes medical and prescription drug, dental, vision, voluntary benefits (such as accident, hospital indemnity, and critical illness), short- and long-term disability, basic life, and basic AD&D coverage. Short- and long-term disability, basic life, and basic AD&D coverage are provided at no cost to associates. Edward Jones offers a 401k retirement plan, and tax-advantaged accounts: health savings account, and flexible spending account. Edward Jones observes ten paid holidays and provides 15 days of vacation for new associates beginning on January 1 of each year, as well as sick time, personal days, and a paid day for volunteerism.
