Traphagen School is seeking a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support students and teachers in creating a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment. Position Summary The Teaching Assistant will work collaboratively with classroom teachers, service providers, and school administrators to support students' academic, social-emotional, behavioral, and developmental needs. The ideal candidate is patient, flexible, student-centered, and committed to helping every child succeed. Key Responsibilities
• Assist teachers with implementing daily lessons and learning activities.
• Provide individual and small-group instructional support.
• Reinforce skills and concepts taught by the classroom teacher.
• Support students with assignments, classroom routines, and transitions.
• Assist with implementing students' Individualized Education Programs and accommodations, when applicable.
• Encourage positive behavior, independence, and appropriate social interactions.
• Help prepare instructional materials and maintain an organized learning environment.
• Supervise students during arrival, dismissal, lunch, recess, and other school activities.
• Monitor student progress and share relevant observations with the classroom teacher.
• Maintain the confidentiality of all student and family information.
• Participate in meetings, training, and professional-development activities.
• Perform other duties related to student support as assigned.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Teaching-assistant certification required by New York State and the school district.
• Experience working with elementary-aged children preferred.
• Experience supporting students with diverse learning needs is a plus.
• Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to follow teacher directions and established instructional or behavioral plans.
• Ability to respond to students with patience, compassion, consistency, and professionalism.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Successful completion of all required background checks and clearances.

Schedule and Compensation The work schedule follows the school calendar. Salary and benefits will be determined according to district guidelines, qualifications, and experience.
