About this role
A division of the Moose Jaw Multicultural Council, the Moose Jaw Newcomer Welcome Centre is a first stop, walk in, multi-faceted, collaborative regional service centre that exists to welcome immigrant newcomers to the Moose Jaw region. The Information/Settlement Advisor is the first point of contact for clients, community service providers, and community members responsible for the overall coordination of services and information to address client needs and inquiries and responsible for the organization and successful operation of the reception and information areas of the NWC. Specific DutiesAssist clients in gaining required informationValidates accuracy and completeness of client and community service information Organizes, updates/orders informational resources and materials from the region and beyondCoordinates with Language Assessors/ Settlement Advisor to book client appointments. Filing and photocopying and other general office dutiesAdministrative support to the Gateway Manager Meeting clients one-on-one to provide assessments and referrals, as well as knowledge about CanadaDeliver workshops and orientations relevant to newcomer needs and gapsCollaborate with other local organizations to support newcomer needsOther duties in the best interest of the clients and agency Required Skills/ Aptitudes Post secondary degree in human/social sciences or equivalent education and experience.Cultural awarenessCan work as a member of a teamCan work in an open work environment with many interruptionsKnowledge working in the South Central region of SaskatchewanCan travel the region and work some flexible hoursClass 5 drivers license and reliable vehicle.Clear criminal record and vulnerable sector checkAdditional language skills an asset.
