Kerr Street Cafe is looking for a young, energetic, motivated, and people-focused Cafe Manager to join our team.

*The Role*
As Cafe Manager, you will be responsible for helping lead the day-to-day operation of Kerr Street Cafe on the floor. You will be a visible and hands-on leader who works alongside the team to deliver excellent food, coffee, service, and hospitality.
You will help create an environment where our customers want to return and where our team enjoys coming to work.
What We're Looking For
* 3+ years of restaurant management or supervisory experience, preferably in a high-volume, full-service or upscale casual restaurant. * Strong leadership and people-management skills. * A genuine passion for hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences. * Excellent communication and organizational skills. * Ability to remain calm, positive, and solutions-focused during busy services. * Strong understanding of restaurant operations, labour management, and customer service. * Experience with POS systems, cash handling, scheduling, and inventory is an asset. * Food Handler Certification is preferred. * Smart Serve certification is required if working with alcohol service. * Ability to work weekends and holidays as required. * Must be comfortable working on your feet and being actively involved in restaurant operations. * Strong English communication skills.
*What You'll Do*
* Lead the café team during daily operations and set the standard for friendly, professional service. * Work alongside staff and jump in wherever help is needed. * Welcome customers and help create a warm, friendly, community-focused atmosphere. * Train, coach, motivate, and support team members. * Help new employees learn our products, service standards, procedures, and culture. * Oversee opening and closing procedures. * Monitor the quality and presentation of food, coffee, and beverages. * Make sure the café is clean, organized, safe, and ready for customers throughout the day. * Handle customer questions, concerns, and feedback with professionalism and a positive attitude. * Assist with inventory, ordering, receiving, and reducing product waste. * Monitor daily sales, labour, and operating costs. * Ensure proper cash handling and POS procedures. * Help introduce new ideas, promotions, products, and initiatives to grow the café. * Identify opportunities to improve service, efficiency, sales, and the overall customer experience. * Follow and reinforce food safety and workplace health and safety standards. * Communicate regularly with ownership/management regarding staffing, operations, customer feedback, and opportunities for improvement. * Lead by example and contribute to a positive, respectful workplace culture.
